Always be grateful for sunshine - engage with its Vitamin D boosting vitality

When you walk down the street and see someone less fortunate than yourself acknowledge your gifts and pure good luck

Remember to smile at least a couple of times a day.

Never be afraid to feel things - good and bad - feel it, think about it - it is a journey in knowing yourself.

It's ok to be critical of other people as long as you can look at yourself with the same honesty.

Understand that you can't make people do or feel anything - at best you can only influence their perceptions.

Believe in the power of the mind and heart - it is real - believe you can change your world - history will tell you this is true.

Remember only you can decide how you will perceive any given situation - always look for possibilities.

When you are feeling really down try to recapture a perfect moment - your child's first smile, a heartfelt friendship, a perfect kiss, the best conversation you ever had - see yourself through other people's eyes in those moments.

When people are cruel, bitter or unkind, protect yourself - but don't pass it on.

Acknowledge perfect moments - capture the sights, smells and sounds and store them for later.

Appreciate the good people you know - brickie or banker let them know they have impressed you.

Tell your children you love them often and don't be afraid to tell them exactly what you admire about them as human beings - these are the words they will carry with them always.

Laugh heartily, laugh at the ridiculous, laugh at yourself.

You can have little rests but never ever give up - there is always a way through.

Understand that there are times when you need to be your own best friend - don't feel that looking after yourself is selfish.

Do things wholeheartedly - when you love, think, feel, tussle with ideas - do it passionately - understand the freedom of real abandon.

Never be afraid to ask for directions - on the road or in your life.

Be proud but accept any genuinely offered kindness, help, sympathy and support that comes your way - this you can pass on.

Forgive yourself - stay aware, learn and improve

Remember you may not be able to undo the past but you can certainly make a better fist of the future - plan for happiness.
