What Tips would you give??

Discussions : Tips and tricks : What Tips would you give??

Hi All,

Thought this would be an interesting thread to start -

What Tip(s) would you give to someone just starting out in Direct Selling/Party Plan?

I'll start:

*  Be patient, Never Give up ... You've heard the phrases "Good things come to those that wait" or "Winners never quit and Quitters never win"!

*  Follow up - when you follow up with your customers (or hostesses/guests etc) you are showing them that you care and are thinking about them.  Call them to see how they are enjoying their order (or party).  Create a customer profile with their contact details on, purchase history - add birthdays, anniversaries, children's names to this when you find them out - you'll impress them by "remembering" these details!!

*  Believe in your product and company - when you love something and are enthusiastic about something it's gonna show.  If you aren't thrilled in the product and company and don't believe in them - your customers won't either!!

Whose next??

Hi,

My best tip is to always remember what it's like to be the hostess of a party.

Be the type of demonstrator that you would like to do a party for you.

EG, Customer service .  Don't be pushy, it's rude and it makes you look desperate.  Don't whinge about your crappy day, no-one wants to hear about your deadbeat ex-husband.

And - VERY Important - if you say you are going to do something for them, eg send out info or provide an extra gift or whatever,-- make sure you do it. Nothing worse than broken promises.

Regards,

Hennypenny

WOW !! These are certainly fantastic tips!!!

Arrive appropriately on time.  I once knew a consultant who would arrive an hour (or more) prior to the party.  Come on girls, we should have the set up down pat.  The hostess has a life too, she is setting up, preparing food, getting ready herself.

And then always leave appropriately too.  I have said this before, even if the person hosting the party is a friend, don't be a stayer on, someone there might not know you are friends, and think, oh goodness this consultant is never going to leave and that may off put them to having a party.

I think you've all covered most of the tips that I have given people but I'll add one more.

SMILE .  Whether you are talking over the phone or in person always have a smile on your face.  If your not happy doing what you do how are you going to get bookings, recruits or inspire your hostess to have a great party.

I agree with all the above, one more thing is to review your kit items regularly, make sure they are clean and well presented.  I also keep a bottle of febreeze in my car which has come in handy if I have been to a party where people are smoking and then have to go straight to another party.  I just pull over and spray my kit and it is nice and fresh for the next party.
