Hi all,
On my home tonight I was listening to 2gb radio talkback, and
Brian Wilshire at nights is the presenter. The topic at this hour was China, and the fact they have NO animal cruelty laws at all.
Much worse - as I thought it was a myth, they eat pussy cats:(
We are not talking feral cats, we are talking stolen pussy cats, that have become tame while being a pet, get stolen by whatever eatery, in the most gross fashion.
The thieves will entice the pussy cat that is tame, have a play, maybe even go as far as scratching the pussy cat on the tummy, and wham - the stolen pussy cat ends up in a cage, ready to be sliced and diced for consumption.
How can anybody do this?
How can a country have NO animal cruelty laws?
How can??? ( well I know how can, as humans are capable of anything ) entice loved pets, to become a meal???.
What is wrong with these people?
Quoting from Muriel's Wedding the Movie and the exact wording regarding the Japanese " Disgusting Race" I would go as far as to suggest the movie include China, for the same comment.
How barbaric....
If you do not believe what I am typing, as I could not believe my ears when hearing it, call radio Sydney 2gb to confirm.
For if I did not hear this with my own ears, I would not have known
Bad China and its people for eating pet pussy cats!

China has a lot of issues; can I remind you the capital of slave labour?
But the people are very nice, the government controls everything. No one owns anything, all owned by government through lease. Glad were not communist.

Hi Richard,
It is so sickening and barbaric...
Stop LIVE animal skinning in China - sign the petitionGlobal Basic Info Type: Common Interest - Pets & Animals Description: Please this will only take 30 seconds of your time..
Ladywytch replied:
Think about Tibet.
This government doesn't know the meaning of Human Rights, do you honestly think animals are going to fair any better.
Most of the people of China are against this though and are far to scared of their own government to stand up (Tiananmen Square is still firmly in their memories).
Isn't Communism just the 'best' form of government - disagree and die! Where is the UN when you need them - oh that's right cowering from China just like everyone else in the world. Phttt!!!
It is thoroughly sickening and should not be allowed in the 21st century however do you honestly think our PM is going to do anything.
Close your eyes people and dream cause that is the closest Australia, and the rest of the world for that matter, will come to reprimanding China about anything.

P.S. China's human and animal rights laws are disgusting and the Tibet issue is very close to my heart so if this comes on a little strong, I apologize.
Lilygirl_wytch replied:
Have to agree here with Ladywytch, it is disgusting what goes on with the world leaders putting a blindfold on so they can trade!? What the?!
Totally hypocritical!
As for those poor animals, this has been going on for centuries, and they use it as an excuse! They are well aware of how the world has evolved, but they don't give a hoot. arrogance!

I received an email this morning along the lines of what Marina was speaking about. It is about skinning the dogs alive and there is a petition for me to sign and forward on. When there are 500 signatures it is to be sent to PETA.
If anyone would like me to forward this email on to them so they can sign the petition as well PM me your email address and I will forward it to you.
FM-Fragrances-Australia-World replied:

Hi Richard
Yes we did this petition awhile ago, but it wouldn't hurt to do it again, and again, and again!
Ladywytch replied:
All these petitions that will be handed to the Chinese government have merit but ... these people just will not listen.
I hate to sound pessimistic here but this has been going on for years and years. I remember attending a protest with my aunt when I was 6 years old against human and animal cruelty in China - for those of you that don't know me that was 39 years ago. Petitions and protests fall on deaf ears with this government.
What we have to do is contact our own leaders and demand trade embargos against not only China but all countries that do not conform to basic human and animal rights.

Hi lady,
I really do not undrstand China, and my knowledge is limited.
I understand that the government is comunist, and i also understand what you say :)
Though what I am not understanding is this..
You mention that the people of China, do not in any way agree with what the government is doing. ( ok I am still with you )
BUT, the government is made up of horrible humans, and is limited ( yes people will be killed, acceptable coladiral damage) but why do the people of China, and we are talking squillions, do not just revolt, and force the government out.
I know this is simple thinking, but is it not a numbers game.
Surely if the government equalled for example 2 million, can not 50 million get rid of them ( yes people will die) but the end result will be worth it?????
What do I not understand?

Well, in theory this is true and it has been tried before but without success. The rulers all through the ages in China have been quite brutal in their way of ruling. Also don't forget, along with the fear and brutality that is always a part of a communist rule, there is the historical Chinese cultural standards of what should and should not be done.
If you read anything of history you will see that people will put up with the most appalling standards if it means they can continue to live. We are taught about the revolutions and changes of governmental systems because we live in a democratic rich country. Our push for freedom and rights comes from our wealth and security.
The majority of China is poor. Their thoughts are more on survival than overthrowing the government. And as was mentioned before, China has no human rights, why would they bother with animal rights??
On the flip side, if you live in a poor country and need to survive, why not come up with the best ways you can of making money and getting food? Again, we don't need to make those choices because we are rich and secure.

Hi Mezz,
Thanks for that - and you are correct in saying, If I have read anything of history ( so obvious I haven't) hense why I asked lady's opinion.
Though something in your post struck at a core, and that was through out history, revolutions failed, and failed for whatever reason. So that means don't bother trying again? Don't bother trying to alter the present? History can only be changed if people are prepared to make changes, or go against the grain to have changes made.
Like the chinese I must suffer the same problem of isolation, weather considered rich or not, as i just can not comprehend what you are saying, understand yes, but comprehend no.
So I guess isolation works boths ways, they the chinese in your opinion can not see past instant survival, which includes eating and selling pet pussy cats, and I can not see past trying. being regardless of personal cost to have changes made - sometimes I loose, sometimes I win, but give up and be defeatest = No way:)
I am not sure a defeatest attitude is from DNA, as if they have the human will to survive, surley they have the soul to make things better for generations to come. Somebody once said, and I have no idea who- The needs of the many - outweigh the needs of the few.

Hi Rich,
You raise good points. Yes Revolutions failed and people tried again but it is sometimes difficult to get a handle on time frames. We live in a democratic west because of 1000s of years of war and struggle and uprisings that went before us. I think the time that it took is often forgotten. It makes me furious when the US goes into a country and 'establishes democracy'. Democracy doesn't work like that. Democracy is a philosophy and way of thinking and acting that is taught through generations. The mind set comes through father and mother influencing their children. Democracy comes through the people deciding they will not support tribal lines anymore. Africa will never become fully democratic until they can vote outside of their tribal blood lines.
Revolution not only needs the population to be ripe for uprising, it also requires a leadership of brilliance. You cannot manufacture that. The brilliance of that kind of leadership doesn't happen often. That is why we pay tribute with such reverence when they do appear.
If people can be molded by an individual to accept brutality from their parents and spouses as a way of life and something that is deserved and just, how much more a population. Humanity carries soul stirring greatness in its blood but also tremendous baseness. Humanity more often tends to follow the status quo. There is a reason that the bible so often refers to people as sheep. We do what the group does, we follow easier than we lead and break away.
I do not think that you should not be outraged. I applaud that you have the mind set to keep on keeping on and that you will always strive to go higher and better. I was just trying to say, I guess that it is important that we understand others' mind sets. To see people's situations through their eyes. Their culture is not ours. Their mind set is not ours. What they see as normal, we see as abnormal. Sometimes what we see as cruel, others see as necessary. It is not straight forward to change 100s of years of thought patterns.
Moreover, referring back directly to the issue of animal cruelty in China, often brutal societies are just plain brutal all over. The west has been untroubled for so long we have time on our hands to look further outward and say, 'hey these animals should be cared for'. Western Europe was not always so caring for it's animal populations. My parents even, treated animals far more cruelly than we do today. A lot of that was simply because they lived a far less wealthy and time free life. There was no money to spare. There was no time to spare. You did what you did. My dad said this in a conversation once -that, 'looking back on it, drowning all those kittens that way was cruel, but we couldn't feed them and we couldn't let them go ferral and we certainly didn't have the money to have them professionally put down.'

I cannot condone death in the most painful cruel way. Skins are taken off animals alive, dogs are killed in the most cruel way possible, Just take a look on You Tube Dogs in Korea and tell me this doesnt get under the skin in the most sickening way. The meat is sweeter if the animal is tortured! And whos going to prove otherwise. Looking at the clip I was sickened and had nightmares for weeks. Food is meant to be killed humanely, my stomach is turning as I speak.
Pets for sure (tame animals), Jack Russels, Labs, Pommeranians.
What a mob of
They will never make money from me as for this reason alone I will never visit their countries. Sad really when tourism is a great money spinner.
Maybe that may get some notice??? The money!

Hi mezz,
Your last response - educated me thank you, seriousely:)
Know I comprehend:)
I don't like it - hense I agree with prims post just after yours.
It looks as though I will be dead and gone, and things will more or less be the same in China. I hope and guess, we need to pray for a humain leader to rise from the ranks, to install leadership, more so a following that a revolt can and will take place. Who this leader will be ( I have no idea).
Also correct we do enjoy the hardships and fruits of our great grandparents who fought wars etc etc.... I just hope what is happening in the world today with a particular religion, and very much Sydney, as at times I have no idea who I am anymore, or what I can say in my own country, is elliminated before it gets off the ground. I should correct myself it's already off the ground and moving fast........... am I worried YES as it is happening in my lifetime. If you live in Sydney you will know what I am saying:) as I will just not go to certain parts of Sydney suburbs now, lets just say they are out of bounds for White Australians.

Thanks Rich. I always worry that I'll offend so I'm glad I didn't offend you. History is absolutely fascinating IF you can find someone who'll tell it to you right. My dad, who grew up in Dutch WWII is a fabulous story teller and I have learnt heaps from him. Also I studied the story of Russia while in Yr11 and 12. Absolutely fascinating and their history just makes you weep.
And Prim. I do agree with you. Just the thoughts turn my stomach. What is worse is that people are still treating PEOPLE in that way throughout the world. (not so much for cannibalism, although that was done in the past, but simply to inflict pain.) Us humans are an exquisite and yet terrifying race.
