I have been asked to do a kids birthday party!

I have never done one before and when asked I said "Yes! Of course I do!!!" and really have no idea (he he!) and was thinking I might run this by all of you first!!!

Okay, it's for a group of 7 year olds ... I will be using the Pretty Princess Stampin Up! set. (on page 38 of the big green catalogue)

I will be charging $8 or $10? per child, and everyone will be making a card, a take home bag (made out of an envelope!) a bookmark, and a gift box for their lollies! If I provide all the items for the take home bags too, I was going to up the price to cover these, but have to discuss it with the lady further ...

The activities will last at least an hour, (probably longer!) and they will have colouring in textas provided, glitter glue pens and ribbons (already cut and 'bowed' to embellish)

Anyone have anything to add? Something I haven't thought of? Suggestions? Let me know! Thanks!

Parties are fun but if it's for kids you have to be prepared.

How many kids? Take spare cards etc coz if one gets ruined you don't want tears.

I would do at least $10 per child. That is not at all unreasonable. Double check your costs with all the extra prettiness you're adding. Make sure you make a profit.

Do one thing at a time. Don't just put things out and say GO like you can with adults. Instructions are best if precise and directed. Do the bookmarks together, the bags together etc. Any folding that needs to be done, do as a group if possible. Once an item has been made, put it somewhere safe to dry and not get spilt on etc. Also, what are you going to do when one kid finishes really quickly?

Don't wear your expensive clothes and be horrified if they get glue all over them and.....

Have fun!!!

I always have spares for adults! So, of course will have spares for the kids!
I do a step by step directions and 1 item at a time with adults too, so will be doing the same with the kids!

I am using cheap ribbons and glitter pens and textas as I don't want my expensive things ruined.

Mun gave me an idea too - instead of the gift box, I am going to do a door hang instead! More fun and useful to boot!

There are always extra things to be added if they finish first! Might leave all the colouring in till last? Will have to be flexible and see how it goes on the day! Best laid plans and all that ...

I'm guessing there will be 8 - 10 kids there, but will have to find out specifics closer to the date!

Will keep you posted ... Lavina

That would be so much fun! I would think 10ish per child is ok, you pay more than that generally when they go to a play centre and they dont go home with something they have created then either!

I have actually done a few with my tupperware and we do it as 'kids in the kitchen' while the mums etc have a chat and drink - they look over my display and go through the catalogues while i have the kids in the kitchen and we make coloured pancakes or we decorate the birthday cake (i always make sure the parents have the cake ready or it takes to long to cook and then cool one down!) the kids have a ball!!

I think your idea would work fantastically though! Make sure you have heaps of business cards to hand out to the parents!!!
