Hi there
My sons father had some tests done last week. Yesterday he got the results. All of which were not good!
His Cholesterol was 9.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The doctor said he didnt know why he was still able to walk!! He also has fatty liver disease where i believe instead of a normal color the liver is white???
He has been put on medication but they are running further tests from blood already taken last week and want to run more tests next week. Of course he has been told no take away food and no junk food etc. And to eat healthy. Not an easy thing to learn at 42 but still it has to be done. Gotta change the auto pilot. I need to change my eating habits too.
Anyway purpose of this post is to ask if anyone else knows much about high cholesterol etc and if anyone can recommend any good sites for a total diet change. I did check out the heart foundation one which seems pretty good. Thanks for reading

Hi, I don't know if this relates to your situation but
high cholesterol can also be very much related to
high stress.
My blood tests just before Christmas showed for
the first time I had very high cholesterol.
I eat healthy, i try not to eat the wrong things,
and it was realised that my high cholesterol levels
were due to too much stress.
Still the same dangers, but difficult to find a solution.

Esther darling don’t stress, there’s no need to no more, life is great, you know the motto feel good and look great, that’s what were doing! Anyways, I recommend preventing cholesterol by reducing the amount of fatty or oily foods you eat and also by reducing the amount of spread on your bread or even better try heart foundation tick approved butters like Flora Proactive etc.

Snazz and Esther,
Check with your doctor ! Obviously there are things that you need to reduce in your diet, but there are also things that you should increase. Like FIBRE. Yes, I have high cholestorol. Was diagnosed about 3 years ago and I modified my diet; however, high cholesterol is not just a disease that overweight people get. It can be hereditary as well. My dad had high cholesterol, he was supremely fit with the exception that he smoked !!! This is very very bad and you need to give it up !!!! Back on about Overwewight people, my doctor was also the doctor of a prominent politician here in Queensland that was Joh Bjelke -Petersons right hand man. This guy was huge. Some will know who I am talking about. Anyway, his cholesterol was low. Go figure !
Michelle is right, cut down on your fatty foods, swsitch to Pro-active or other CHOLESTEROL LOWERING spread (although don't try cooking with it, it does not work successfully !!) get some metamucil into you daily and get a list of foods that you should avoid or cut down on eating, such as eggs and shellfish. Do some walking and find some time to meditate or do tai chi to decerease your stress levels. If all else fails, your doctor can put you on cholesterol lowering drugs, because as I said, in some cases it is hereditry and no diet change will fix it completely.
cheers

Great advice Girls.
Fortunately / Unfortunately my diet does consist of all the
right things. I don't smoke or drink, I'm only a little bit overweight.
I only walk however as my exercise due to my injuries.
But my darling doctor has said to me that mine is stressed
related. So maybe this year i will need to find some calming
and therapeutic remedies.
