Hi Guys - we're BACK!!

Oh what a holiday!!!  Not in a good way, had a bit of a diseasterous holiday and only just got in the door about an hour ago...

Long and winded but if you want to leave my story now, I understand!!

TOLD YOU I DIDN'T WANT TO GO ON HOLIDAY!!!

Started down in Airlie Beach, FIL took us out on the boat, not a confident person driving his boat but all the same, finally after four years he decided to take us out.  I have always wanted to go to Hills Inlet which is off Whitsunday Island, so picturesique etc real postcard material... well we finally got the chance, loaded up the kids, the boat, food etc.  Got out there (about 1.5 hours) by boat and... WE RAN OUT OF FUEL!!!  OMG!!!  One good thing, lots of Green Sea Turtles to look at, nice white silica sand etc and if not half a KM from the inlet!!!  We anchored just off the side and were slowly being washed into the rocks as we sat there deciding what the next point of call was going to be!!  When we started to get to dire straights and truelly nearly sitting on the rocks, we waved a tourist boat over to try and get him to pull us back into the channel, he was too big, too risky for him to get us off the rocks so he called over a little tinny to help us, he pulled us over to a mouring and we sat there for like three hours for the rescue boat to come and get us and tow us back to Airlie Beach!!  All the time, I had a 4 and 2 year old, couldn't show them our fear as FIL would have just lost it if they got upset, so just said we were waiting for the big boat to come and get us.  A huge expensive bill later and got home late afternoon, everyone burnt FIL totally pissed off (sounds like his fuel tanks had been milked as he had just had the boat serviced and had been filled to the top before the service)

Went down to Glady we go... hi Trish!!  X X  Arrived there to find my DH and his mate straight to the pub, had Trish's launch to do and met a few of her wonderful friends.  Got home to our friends to find the boys didnt arrive home until well after 8pm where my other friend had been stuck babysitting my kids - NOT Happy jan, ended up feeling like a spare prick at a wedding the whole time.  It did come good in the end but it was nice to get back on the road again.

Back to Airlie for the last night then home again, Friday.  Only to have hit the closed road at Ingham by two hours!!!  So we had to stay in a Motel for three days!!  Kids were just going rank and were totaly flooded in the Motel - water on four sides of the buildings... the kids ended up playing in the floods, they had a good time - had 5 parties lined up for this weekend and had to cancel EVERY ONE OF THEM!!  We climbed out of bed at 6am this morning to get on the road again as there is now a cyclone brewing out there!!

Anyway, its so nice to be on familiar territory again, back at home.  Will remember this holiday for some time!!

Oh - hi everyone, hope you have been all partying up hard... its nice to be back online again!!  When you are stuck in floodwaters, its pretty boring!!

I am not one for holidays either ... if I'm being honest!

The kids will look back and enjoy it tho... kids have a really good time where ever they are.

Glad you are all back and safe and well. In years to come, you will look back with a chuckle ... Hopefully!!!

Take Care and have a lovely day, Lavina

Hi Nixie,

You poor thing... That will for sure be a holiday you will  never forget...and then to get half way home and get stuck in ingham..  and yes now a cyclone.... the last I heard it is gonna cross around Cardwell...

I am prepared as well as I could be...BUT my hubby isn't home... so home alone with the kids... as long as the power doesn't go off... I hate darkness...
