Getting party bookings

Discussions : Off your chest... : Getting party bookings

I really need to vent here.
I make my phones calls to people who have requested that I contact them to book a party. When I do call them, when they have asked me to, they give me the big brush off.
I just called a lady back who wanted to book a party and she simply just hung up the phone on me. I thought this was very rude! If people are not interested in having a party, why do they just not say so???????? These people are the ones that expressed interest to me in the first place. I don't understand it.
Another thing....how many times do you call someone to try and book them in before realising it's wasting your time and money??????
Sorry guys, just needed to vent. I have quite a few of these types of brush off calls since the start of the year and it's very frustrating.

Well, don't know if you want an opinion here, or just want to vent???  So you can choose to read or not.

This could be one of two things.

1.  You are doing too much of the 'hard sell' approach.  People get sick of being nagged all the time.  Remember the 100:1 ratio - and if you haven't been taught that yet, then you need to ask your manager about it.  (And remember people are rude in general, thats why they don't do party plan, so don't take it personally)

2.  Strike while the iron is hot, people are giving you the 'brush off' originally when they ask you to ring them back.  If you can't book them in then and there at a party, they are simply not interested.  In my field (and yours too) I am taking bookings so far in advance, and my cancellation ratio is only about 2%.  Do you use a pencil in your diary ??

Ok, hope that helped some.

Thanx [ExMember148] for you opinion.  Yes I do use a pencil in my diary.  Also, I'm not doing the hard sell.  As I said, these people have come to me expressing their interest in a party.  I have been ringing them when they have requested.  Oh and by the way, these aren't people I've booked in from parties.  These are people who have contacted Discreet, I've booked them in, they have then post poned and then told me to call them on this date etc.........  The people I book in from my parties are fine.  I don't have any trouble with them.

Well if you have not met them , then don't take it personally.  They don't know what they are missing out on!!!

Hey Kylie,

As another adult party plan consultant I can sympathise with your frustration.  I also don't push too hard, however I have had leads from head office that are time wasters also!

Also where I am no one is in a hurry to book and I find dropping a catalogue out of the blue to former requests can get you that booking.

Cheer up and keep persevering!
