Hi All
I am having computer issues!!! ARGGHHH
Basically, the computer is divided into two users. Mine and my husband. 2 days ago, my side just decided to fail. So the desktop loads now with nothing on. I can't load anything at all on my side. I can't right click on the desktop. I can click start and the menu comes up but that is all, click on anything and it won't load.
Log on to my husbands side and everything is fine.
Does anyone at all know how to restore my desktop??
Cheers
Me

Hi [ExMember148],
My computer did the same thing last month - not good news if it is the same. My hard drive died. You are more than likely on tempuary setting on your side of the computer too hence why you can not save anything. I have to get a complete new hard drive put in. Luckly my computer lady who fixed ws ableto find all of my files I thought had got wiped. Best thing to do is take to a comptuer mob before the whole computer crashes as it will be cheaper $$$ wise while they can still acess part of the computer.
Good luck

Hi Hush,
I am not the bearer of good news either I have two pc's 1 Cheetah as I call it 120gg (Big PC - mine) and one 40gg pc know as the Sunday Driver.
A few months ago it would not load up, could not even get the desktop, we had been had by a virus, we lost everything - Pictures, word docs, business files etc
Hope you can salvage yours

The good news...
If it is a virus and your hubby can still log in ok, then it is only affecting the 'registry' entries for your username. Try creating a new user for that computer.
There is also a chance that you profile directory has been wiped ie in:
C:\Documents and Settings\HushHush or similar
If that is the case, you will have to re-create a new user for that computer.

UPDATE : I think Mr PP is on the right track here.
Using my hubby's side last night, was heaps quicker etc than mine ever was. So I thought, well why not just rename his side and keep it as is. So therefore, should I just delete my user side?? Will that affect anything ?
Then this morning, log on and low and behold my side is ok again, though very very slow. So I am not sure what to do now?
Think I should just use his side? I can still access all the bits I need.....
partyplans replied:
The only problem using his side is that you will not be able to access you internet favorites list (such as partyplans.com.au) and might have to reconifig email if you use different accounts. And any shortcuts on you desktop will have to be re-made too.

[ExMember148],
Just be careful as this all sounds very familiar with what happened to our computer. Identical infact. I thought mine was fine again and then all was wiped again not to be found. I started using hubby's side etc.. and then whole computer would not load past the windows page. I wish I had taken it straight to our computer lady to have her fix it up but it eneded up costing way more and a new hanrd drive. Just be careful before trying to fix it yourself.

Well, other than parytplans and my porn websites (haha) as my pp reckons, thats about it lately for me, too busy.
I will just use his side for the moment, and investigate further about the viability of getting this one fixed or getting another one up and running.
Just finding a reliable, computer guru is the next thing
