They are saying the consumer ie - US! have asked for it!!!
YEAH RIIIIIGHT!
Marketing wants it! They want your money for over priced chocolates!
Don't buy! That's my advise!!! Don't even register it on your radar!
Not Happy!

It really pisses me off !!! My kids love hot cross buns; always have and always will, but I refuse to buy them or eat them before the week of Easter !!!! It means that they have them to look forward to. Same goes for Easter eggs... not until Easter Sunday !!!
To me, Easter is sacred and the Easter Egg and Hot Cross Bun are strong Christian symbols that shouldn't be mucked around with for the sake of marketing. Why not sell them as Not Cross Buns and take the cross off ????
Of course this is just my opinion, but it is something that I believe in strongly and I am sure others do as well.

Well, this subject was on our local radio talk back this morning.
As i had not been near a shop for days i thought to myself this can't be right - Well in the junk mail today our major supermarket was advertising the buns...............only 12 days from Christmas.
We are still eating white christmas, watermelon, ham ect from the Xmas period.
Marketing - that's what it is all about. I agree Mel, it just is not right.
I say - don't buy buns in protest and let us all remember what Christmas and Easter are about.
Cheers,
Margie

Last Year they started selling them on New Years Day too. It's a bit ridiculous. Hardly anyone buys anything this early and all their buns go waste.
However, I must admit I just finished eating a hot cross bun for breakfast......but they were drastically reduced at 8.45pm last night, and so I purchased them. I was simply looking for something my daughter that she would eat and they were out of bread, raisin toast and muffins.
I wouldn't normally purchase them before at least March as I think it is nuts that they are just using Easter as a marketing campain.
-slaps her hand-
Won't do it again.

Yes, it all happens so quick these days!! Just checked my diary - Easter is in April this year, so four months before the actual and they are on the shelves!!
Mind you I don't mind a Hot Cross Bun occassionally but yeah, just trying to clear out the left over food from christmas and all the kids lollies etc, just want to give my teeth (let alone my kids teeth) a break from all this junk food!!

My DH used to manage stores for Target then Woolworths.
He had Easter gear on the back docks before Christmas.
It is up to the individual manager as to how early they go out.
You find the greedy ones have them out before Christmas is even over. The latest they can put them on the shelves though is early to mid Feb, the good ones wait. You can tell when you walk into a store if the manager is on the ball.
Christmas gear is on the back docks waiting to go out anywhere from mid August onward. Some mangers put the stock out then others wait till the death and don't go there until early to mid Sept. Go figure!
