I am sure all Party Plan companies offer Hostess Rewards to Hostess's for holding parties. Most companies rewards are based on sales levels and future party bookings. But what do you do when customers cancel their orders and the sales levels drop under the reward levels. I have heard of hostess's wanting to cancel all the party orders because they are no longer receiving their rewards. What do you and your company offer the hostess in this suituation, anything???

This is soooooooo very frustrating. And various companies I know of and have been with, have various ways of handling it. Like companies that have to have bookings within 21 days etc, I know why they do it, but really it is so 'pushy' . And also, when consultants have to pay for the hostess gifts etc, and then orders cancel, how irritating.
I have just worked out a simple solution, and that is how our hostess rewards are offered. Yes we still have cancellations, (though I must say, very very rarely) , but it does not affect the hostess gifts (unless a whole party was to cancel).

Yes we too have a system in place where the hostess gifts are not affected and it seems to work.
You have just bought up another subject that i don't seem to understand. Why is it that companies that manufacture their own products charge their consultants for their hostess rewards/gifts? This frustrates me, i know its only sometimes a small amount but it is suppose to be a reward from the company not the consultant! I wouldn't dream of doing that to my consultants, they are their to make money for themselves, if it means Horny Little Devils pays for the rewards then so be it, that was always how we were going to operate. Our consultants can purchase products from the company at a highly discounted price if they wish to make up a hamper or offer their own added incentives. I often give consultants little freebies, they all say how generous we are but i work on a win win system, if the consultants and customers are winning then so is the business.

You are so spot on, that is how we work too. Win - Win. I have been a consultant, and hey, as a consultant you want to make money, not be spending it!!!! Let's have a great 2007.

I have only ever had this happen to one of my parties, in a year, so that's not too bad. Thankfully it was a friend of mine, and even though she was disappointed, understood the consequences of people cancelling orders so she was alright with what happened to her. But I'm pretty sure that if this does happen our customers are still entitled to a half price garment - as it wasn't really the hostesses fault. This does depend on the circumstances though.
cheryl replied:
I agree MJ, It does depend on the suituation. I not only feel disapointment for the hostess but also for the consultant as some people take a cancelled order to heart, thinking they have done something wrong. However at the end of the day we must keep our customers happy, without them none of us would be in business.

We give the hostess (on behalf of the consultant but at our expense) a free gift because we are a family based business who delight in taking care of our consultants all over Australia. And beautiful gifts they are!
Some companies, unfortunately, are far too shortsighted.

Personally I haven't had this happen - hopefully it doesn't. What I think I would probably do is to call the hostess and let her know what has happened. I would then offer to leave the party open for another two or three days and see if she has any friends that couldnt make it who would like to place an order that will hopefully cover the sales that she has just lost. The same goes if a booking is cancelled. I would always let the hostess know immediately as it her friends that are changing the outcome- she may be able to get to the reason behind the change of mind when we can't.
We give our hostess $60 free products just for having the party and then 50% off any other hostess shopping - these are leveled depending on the number of bookings. No matter what the outcome of the party the $60 is guarnteed and its free!

I haven't had this happen to me either, but I always give my hostesses a gift just for having the show, so they never go empty handed. Our hostesses just get a flat percentage of their sales to spend - there are no "levels" to reach as such. That is irrespective of any bookings, so cancelled bookings don't affect her credit. We do have exclusive booking gifts as well.
