Discussions : Australia : What do you look for in meetings?

When you go to your meetings / seminars / training
what more would you like to have added to them to make them
more interesting? and more enjoyable?
Do you bring along guests to your meetings? How do you invite them?
Do you offer them an extra incentive to come along?
I think this would make a nice / interesting discussion for old and new members.
I know I will enjoy it - I hope you do too!!!!

Short, sweet and organized.
If they drag on they tend to put me off into a doze so if the knowledge to be imparted is done quickly and concisely it is a good meeting.

Good meetings are those that,as M said, are short, sweet and organised. Tedious meetings are no good - people don't concentrate or pay attention and you all may as well have been doing nothing.
The best meetings are those that are fun, friendly and keep you interested, small groups are good, but I for one hate being put on the spot to provide an answer publicly at meetings and would rather be able to volunteer to have input into a discussion rather than being in a 'classroom' atmosphere of being called upon.
With SF our TL used to run a lucky door or small competition prize each time, they were good.

Have to also agree with these ladies too. I also like light entertainment, previews of upcoming products, motivational speeches and information. Sometimes a resource table with motivational books and cd's work well too.
If you have a guest speaker who has written a book for eg, have that person do a signing. The seminars I have seen with this type of event, work very well and people are more motivated.
