ABN Number

     You dont need an ABN number , only if you exceed $45,000 dollars sales per year thats when u need an ABN number. You can be a Distributor and do it as a hobby or do it professionally.

As a rule, no you don't have to have an ABN unless your income is over $75000 now ( I think that's the new amount), however it pays to have one anyway.

All your expenses are easily claimed and you can also claim back any GST that is charged you, if you are also GST registered.

It is mostly recommended for those of us who have started our own businesses and deal with other businesses and wholesalers, but as a PP it is not necessary but clearly your choice.

As Marty said it is a legal thing. There are more and more PP companies (especialy small pp companies)taking this in and it is to cover them in a legal sense regarding tax etc..

A abn is easy to get and free so there is no harm in getting one.

This issue has been hashed and rehashed many times on here.....and i am sure it will continue as it is hard to get a clear answer from the Taxation Dept themselves. I know i got 3 different answers. But perhaps the one that was most exciting if i can call it that relates to an old thread which can be found here
