I remember mine clearly. It was 41 degrees. I was in a house with no air con, no breeze and no air at all.
I was sweating anyway because I was so nervous and the heat......OMG Had sweat dripping off my face.
Was overeager to please and was a little mortified to stand up in front of everyone and talk about adult toys. Im sure it was a great look!
Thank goodness those days are long gone

Good Gods girl, at my age I can hardly remember yesterday.
But senility must be here cause I can remember Party #1 and it was almost identical to yours heatwise.
I got thrown in the deep end the first was Feb 14th, a bridal shower and as hot as Hades. Then I found out the hostess had the party in her garage with 26 ladies squished in and all the kids were upstairs in the air conditioning grrrrrrrrrr. I had to go home and wash my kit as there were heap of very sweaty try ons that day.
Prim either we loved it from day one despite the circumstances or we both need our heads read for continuing on. A little from column A, a little from column B, in my case anyhow.

Yes I remeber it well, it was the very first party for our company, there was three of us from the company there. I was as nervous as all heck, stumbled and mumbled our way through it.
we showed the DVD of the orphanage and I cried like a baby, all the work getting there and it finally was happening.
6 ladies $350 in sales, a $50 donation and 2 bookings.
a few more parties for me with an average of $300+ per party, I have given doing parties away and now the they are averaging around the $1,200 mark. I have learnt my lesson from that one LOL

My first party as such was when i first started with Creative Memories and set about to do my very first home class. I had attended a few and to ensure i had it down pat i video taped myself LOL!! It was Hilarious watching that video back down the track. I was so serious and would tape little pauses while i waited for my pretend customers to crop their photo and at the end of the pause i would say.... "WELL DONE" and move onto the next step haha I remember visualizing that video when i went LIVE so to speak and found it didnt go anything like the way i had planned. I was nervous and the fact that i had 13 people and on two different tables didnt help the nerves when i was getting questions from all directions. I did however go on to conquer my nerves and successfully found a way that was confortable to myself for presenting. I then went onto hold regular monthly workshops at the nearby school hall. Each time i got up in front of my class it got that little bit easier.....but i no longer took that pause to say WELL DONE cos it was just too corny

Oh My !!!
First party was around this time last year when we launched Foodie Parties. I was so nervous that I read my spiel book word for word (funny thing is that I helped to write it...................but what you write and then what you read..............well it just sounds crap !!!) I wasn't expecting anything major from it, but as it was my first party and the first party that we held as a brand new business, we decided that we would open ourselves up for criticism........can only help you improve right ??? YES !!! from that party we learn't so many things that we put into all of our presentations today. So despite being nervous, sweaty and stuttttttery it paid off !!! I actually never put my spiel book down until June of this year.
I still stutter sometimes, lose my train of thought and stare at people blankly not knowing what to say..........but now I can laugh it off and usually get back on track.
BTW I still pray before every party and give thanks afterwards.............mostly that I didn't wet my pants or tip a plate of food all over myself or the guests.
Cheers

Hi all,
I remember my first party like it was yesterday. Although it was over 4 years ago!
It is a story I tell all my new consultants, it makes them feel much better about themselves!
At that stage I lived in a defence establishment - everybody knew everybody and what colour underwear they were wearing that day. The whole street was there and it was a 10am start.
Started carting my gear across the road 1 hour before hand, and then took the whole hour to set up!
When all the guests were seated (all of which I knew) I went into my thing. Reading straight off the Introduction Sheet I got up to Hello, my name is Tania and I am a consultant for Essential Additions.
At that point I started to cry and ran from the room! How embarassing. They all laughed at me which was the best medicine, and told me to harden up! There is something about brutal honesty which I love. Yep, composed myself, went on the with rest of the presentation and ended up with sales of a whole $189!!!!!
Bit short of my $1K average today.
You know what, I still get a tear in my eye when I tell the story. Why did I cry? Yes I was nervous (Isn't everbody) but more importantly, I was doing something for myself and I was PROUD - yep they were tears because I WAS SOMETHING, not just a mum drinking wine at 5pm every day (which I still do to get me through the witching hour!).
Call me a sooky la la (my friends do!), but I figure you are a stronger person if you are not too embarrassed to show your true emotions - in my mind anyway
Cheers to all
Tania

You go Sooki La La !!!!!!!!!
It's these big steps...... and yes, they are big steps...........that make us what we are today. I continue to draw on these Heart Thumping Experiences as motivators to try new things all the time. Ask anyone who has done a Bungy Jump or a Bridge Climb how it has helped them with their confidence and in difficult situations (BTW I would never never never jump off anything)
Cheers
