Discussions : Questions and answers : Home base business forums??

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a online forum for home based businesses here in Austalia. I have recently purchased a business which is not party plan. This site is great but I am after one which is non-party plan orientated. I have done searches but nothing really suitable has come up. It could even be a WAHM forum. Does anyone know of a good one or is a member of such a forum?
Cheers

Hi Janine,
I have been looking for a similar thing. The sites I have come accross ask for payment before you can browse and see how good they are. I dont mind paying an anual fee but I want to know that it is going to be worth it first...... willl be watching this thread for ideas!!

Hi Michelle,
I too have come across a few site/forums that you need to be a paid member. I to at least see what is on offer. I have seen some are up to $500 per year to join and some are lower. I understand the need to have a fee but unless I know of someone personally who is a member then I will not join. When you are just starting out $300 is $300.
I look forward to more responses.
Cheers

If you can't find one start one yourself.
There is a host of free forums that you can do this with.
Just an idea.
I'd join in as pp is not my only - hell - not even my main business.

Ditto Here! I was a member of one site and it was very good but I didnt really fit the profile, I am a mum but not a young mum and that seemed to be the main focus of this particular site and its membership. Then they went to paid membership and I felt it was not worth it

Hi there,
I have been working on a new site just like the one you are mentioning. I did a search some time ago when we hired a promo company to do some marketing for us for mystery home shopping. We wanted to steer away from the term Party Planner and so I went in search of home based forums. I found a few american sites but nothing that fitted what audience i was trying to cater for - so am in the middle of creating my own.
Its called Aussie Home Based Workers. Its still not quite finished and ready to go live yet. But if anyone of you are interested I would be happy to give you the url so you can feel free to give suggestions or start off topics. This forum i am creating will be totally free and will remain free just as my other one is.
Kind regards
Snazza

Hi Snazza - sounds great!
I too would like the link
Thanks.
Ladywytch replied:
Sorry Snazza but I have to say this.
I know through several posts here that you have been working hard at getting away from the "Party Plan" as such but I cannot see why.
I have worked in Party Plan for almost 13 years and have never had a problem with the term.
Home Shopping, yes while very nice term it doesn't really say it.
I call a spade a spade and you can home shop with things like Penny Miller, Homecare, Avon, Amway etc etc etc and none are party plan with the exception of segments of Amway.
If you join a 'party plan' company be proud of it and tell everyone that you do party plan. The stigma associated is only with those that have preconcieved ideas about what party plan is - most never having hosted a party in their lives.
Instead of changing the name, educate these people as to just what we do and how easy it is to be a part of it.
Party Plan is Party Plan - a host/ess holds a party in his/her home and invites family and friends to come see and buy (hopefully) - no matter what you rename it or try to sugar coat the terminology.
I know I will have to duck for cover when the flack starts flying but I think I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else here and I am getting a little tired of holding things in due to repercussions that may or may not fly in.
It is not a free country with freedom of speech.
I am not criticising you or anyone else that prefers your terminology just disagreeing and finally saying that I don't agree with something on here and that I am as proud as all get out to be a part of my particular "Party Plan".
You would be surprised just how freeing just typing this has been - now to hit post.

Hi janine,
there are a few sites that have forums like what you are looking for and I think you need professional sites like Womens Network or Essential womens, or even Women in business. These sites are generally run by very profession 'businesses' which have all the resources you need as well. It's also great for businesses like Madonna's yours and mine which have Party Plan experience, but don't have just party plan products. There are also some great magazines at newsagents these days which have loads of info and forum stuff in the mag.
And Miss M, I totally agree and respect your opinion in this matter.

I have sent you a message with a few for you- not sure if I can post in here or not as it is non PP related.

Hi there M
Thank you for your thoughts and for sharing them. We are all different and view things differently. I personally don't have an issue with the term party plan but you would be surprised at the amount of people that do. And yes I tend to agree with you in that the majority of them perhaps have never even attended one. But like it or not there is a stigma with the term Party Plan for alot of people. As previously mentioned we had a promo company do a media release for us at MHSE and part of that was she had to do alot of research on the party plan industry as a whole. She commented that some people are inclined to associate it with the 80's. She felt the way of going forward into the here and now was to modernize things and agreed Home Shopping Consultant seemed a suitable term. I had already known of many people using this term so it was certainly something I didnt personally come up with.
I already run the australian party plan recruitment forum but i thought seeing I had been looking for something I couldnt specifically find I would create a new forum as I love whipping up websites - its my thing LOL!! But yes I agree with LilyGirl for professional advice there are great sites out there. Many of which I am sure Erin has now emailed to you. Good Luck
And thanks for the interest Esther and Judith I will message you soon
Kind regards

Hi
Just thought I would let people know that they are welcome to register on my new forum if they would like to. Its a little bland at present as with any new forum but i plan to keep adding info and hope that people may use it as well as this wonderful site. As previously stated with my other site this is in no way meant to be in competition with this party plan site. I still feel this is the best party plan site around. Mine is aimed though at all Home Business's.
The forum is catering for not solely party plan or Home Consultants but for anyone self employed and running a business from home.

I love it when people speak their minds (while still being repectful).... it says alot about their character i.e. enough self esteem to not have to go with the flow so to speak!

Can we get back on the original topic - please ladies. Anything other than the topic should be popped into "Off Your Chest" please as this has going crazy.
