Well first day was a success...
I was very brave saying goodbye to my youngest boy Matthew who started grade 1 today, I was actually very pleased I handled it well!
It was also nice to see John settling into his grade 3 class, all his mates are with him so he was pleased as punch!
Saw the odd parent get emotional, get lost etc.
Well now I am spending this week recovering from the holidays.....cleaning is more like it!!!
Looking forward to hearing your stories...

Just think... at least now when you clean up it will stay clean for a few hours rather than seconds!!! :)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the start of the school year.
It cant come soon enough for me
My older two boys start on Wednesday
And the younger two boys start on Friday
Because the school is so big, they do a staggered start. Which is good for the younger ones. It wont be so daunting for them.
But boy, oh boy, will I be happy when they are all at school next week. Not that I have spent that much time with them over the holidays as I have been working. But now my hubby really knows what its like to be a stay at home dad
He has found a new respect for stay at home mum's I think. He has certainly admitted to me that he does not know how I do it all the time.
Anyways, one more sleep here and half of the boys are at school.
Hope you are enjoying a little bit of piece and quite before they come home,
Sharon

My oldest son started prep on Monday. How fast the years go. He came home a little dissapointed though saying "I had a good day but I still don't know how to read". How cute! It was hard to explain it will take more than one day at school to learn to read

Great to hear that the kids enjoyed their first day back. My little boy has just started kindy this year and it is a big adjustment for him, I always looked after him and hardly ever got him babysat etc. I think I am going to pay for that now. He actually said to his kindy teacher last week.....`why does my mummy bring me here, i really don't like it and want to stay at home with my little sister.' how sweet. although when he is home, he doesn't stop fighting with his little sister (arghhh). anyway I know how it feels to be going through this for the first time as a mum, although when I was a teacher I never saw tears or anything from the kids on the first day (could have something to do with them being older - hehe). Just wanted to wish you all the best for the year and lets hope the kids have a great time at school and learn what they are supposed to.

After a bit of a false start the school year got off to a smooth start.
I even remembered to pick them up

WELL! WHEW!
After many moments of reminding master 5 year old, that school starts at 8.30am everyday, we finally got him settled into Prep. His brother into year 2, and his oldest 2 brothers into High School years 11 and 8!
Then finally little bub into Daycare! I find myself feeling completely guilty that my babies are not with me, and at the same time guilty cause I LOVE IT!
Yet when I am at home doing paperwork etc, I feel lost! Why is it so quiet? The silence is deafening sometimes.
So by the time I get the kids up at 6.30am, have them washed, dressed, fed, bags packed, teeth brushed, hair brushed, reminders of books and homework, schedules, timetables for extra activities, and make a cup of coffee it is time to go!
I leave at 8.10am and finish the school run by 9.15am! I am exhausted! So hopefully over the next few weeks I will get used to the silence, relish it! and make some time to pamper myself too!
LOL LOL LOL! Does anyone else feel like this too?
have a wonderful Kid Free Day!

Lilygirl the guilty feeling is well worth it in the end don't you think. I met a mother the other day who doesn't send her kids to kindy as they don't beleive in that (I felt like a big mean mother who loves her kiddy free days) I think it is good for the kids(not just mum) and I can't wait until my youngest (3 months) is old enough to go.

Well its the end of the first week and what a busy week we all had!
My husband had a day off work so we could spend some quality time together, and after a day of shopping, eating vegen out, we headed off to pick up all the kids. ALAS the quiet was short lived!
Then it was off to swimming lessons, how cute, nice end for a Friday.
Boy I can't wait till Monday LOL
have a great weekend guys!
