Here are some more things to consider:

It depends on whether you are getting into it to make some money, or to get your favourite products cheaper. If you are only joining to get your own account, then it makes sense to choose a company based solely on whether you like the products or not, how much discount you are eligible for and how much the starting kit is.

However if you are looking to earn some money or build a career, then there are a few more factors to consider such as commission rates, consultant incentives (cars/holidays/cash), and whether there is a market for your product.

You should also look seriously into how much support the company gives it’s consultants. You want to be able to access training and support easily, especially when starting out.

As a general guide, products that are highly consumable such as food and cosmetics, are easier to market because there is always a need for the products.

I am with the Learning Ladder and we sell educational books, games and toys for kids - lots of which is exclusive to us and so not available in stores, online etc.
