Hey there!

Has been a while since I last posted on here... thought I'd better jump back in and say g'day!

I see there's a LOT of new faces on here!! Welcome to you all!

As for me, I've been busy with planning the Girls Day Out Expo (Incorporating the Christmas in July Expo) - check out the site for details: www.freewebs.com/girlsdayout - we're raising funds for Community Angels (who help the homeless get off the streets - they give them a hand UP, not a hand out! Community Angels work with numerous Women's & Youths Homeless Shelters around Brisbane and the suburbs, as well as providing educational programs for the homeless to complete their education and have another chance in life!!)

Also, hours have been increasing at work (Thiess) for me of late, so have been really busy! In fact, as soon as I get home from the Expo I've gotta pack my bags for the Tarong minesite (I'll be there for a week, doing a 50hr+ week! Eeeekkkk!)

I'm no longer with Saucy Fish (aka my ol' business name "Saucalicious") - sad, but inevitable I guess - what with the Thiess position constantly evolving, and GDO Events taking up much of my time.

Trying to get back into writing again - started a course to help get me "motivated" again!!

So... that about sums it all up for what I've been up to (and why I've been offline sooooo much of late! I WISH there was more time in the day!!)

Cheers,
Ren :)

Hi Ren,

Hope you enjoy your time at the mine.  I am from Nanango so i know all about the mine.  Where do you stay when you come up?  In town Nanango or Kingaroy?

A few of you are probably wondering 'where the hell' we are talking about but Nanango 'home of tarong Power station and Mine' it is 180km north west of Brisbane.

PS - Nanango's little motto is 'where the hells Nanango'

Cheers,

Margie

Hey All,

Thanks for all the really warm welcomings!! I know it's been a while since I've been on here...

An update for you all:

Girls Day Out Expo - from all the feedback I've received from both the exhibitors and the public, everyone seemed to pretty much enjoy the day! I'm still to discover how much we raised in total (as it stands, we're at about the $400 mark for money raised for the Community Angels - there's still money to come from the Entertainment Books we sold as well, so it will certainly be higher!) There's been a LOT of interest expressed in next year's event, so it may prove to be considerably larger than this years! This year's I think went really well, specially for the "launch" event!! :)

Nanango has been great - not half as cold as I thought it would be - though Thurs saw -2 degrees, and ice forming on the rooves of cars!! Soooo... maybe it was cold! All I know is the heater could heat up the room so quickly, you'd start to sweat and have to turn it off!! lol

I came home for the weekend, caught a movie on Friday night, and proceeded to fall ill not long afterwards - so my homecoming hasn't been entirely well - have spent most the weekend either in bed or on the couch (guess ya can't help bad timing!)

I'm back off to Nanango tomorrow for another week (they extended my stay - would actually like to have me there for a month if they could, we shall see whether they can or not - the $$$ would be nice, but don't think head office will wanna let me go for so long!)

Margie - I'm staying in Kingaroy (at the Pioneer? Have you heard of it? It's a pretty good place, great service and the FOOD is to DIE FOR!! Ya gotta try the spicy chicken & prawns!! Mmmm-mmmm-mmm)

Hi Ren,

Yes you are probably staying in the best motel in town.  I have lived in the south burnett my whole life.  Have seen all the changes.  My kids are 5th generation on our family property.  So some histroy there.

The weather has warmed up a bit but it did snow last Monday on the bunya mountains ....

Great news the expo was a success.  Well done.

Have a great week,

Cheers,

Margie

Yay!!! Back in BrisVegas!!! Can't begin to tell ya how much I LOVE being home again!!

Was a bit of a bad week for me (thought I had food poisoning from Brissy, but turns out I picked up a viral infection during my first week out at the mines... have only JUST started to be able to eat proper food on Thurs - have gone soooo many days without food (or eating dry foods like crisps coz it's all I could stomach!) Still not overly well, but hey, I'm just happy I can eat food again!!! Yay!!!!!

Looks like I'll be heading out to Nanango again soon, but I'm gunna stay in Brissy for a couple of weeks first! Need some "down time" and the hours here are NO WHERE near the hours worked on the mines!! :)

Hope everyone has been keeping well?! You might just get to see me on here a bit more than usual too!! hehehehe

(Margie, I have to agree about the lodge - I swear I've been treated like royalty there! And the food - WHEN I can eat it! lol - is devine!!! Best "room service" I've had EVER!! hehehe - will have to try the pioneer catch when I'm up to eating food on a normal basis... I made the mistake of trying it while I was sick... silly thing to do... such gorgeous seafood and I wasted it!!!)
