Returning training manual

Discussions : Australia : Returning training manual

I have FINALLY told my manager that I don't want to be apart of the company anymore.  (I wont mention the company as I still love the product... just don't have very good things to say about the business).

Anyway, I had left over flyers, catalogues etc and she will pay for postage to get them sent over to her.... I also offered my training manual (it cost me $40) and then she told me that it had to be sent back to the company....

It says nothing in the manual that they want it back, or that you get a refund for it, and do they really think I am going to pay out of my own pocket to send it back?

They must be dreaming!!!

Anyway, just wondering what others have had to do when they leave a company.

Hi Bianca,

Good for you!! If there is nothing in the manual or contract about sending stuff back, I wouldn't. The way I see it is that if you paid for it - it's yours. The HO probably worry about the contents being passed on to others, or that you will use their info if you start your own business. If they want it back, they should ask for it themselves, instead of having another consultant do it - and they should give you a refund plus pay the return postage.

I've left a few companies in the past. and have never been asked for anything I bought to be returned. The only time I ever 'gave notice' was when I was a manager, and my team had to be looked after. With the other companies, I didn't let them know in advance that I was leaving - I just stopped selling. They realised soon enough. LOL.

Bianca - I didn't send mine back - honest mistake, i thought i had included it in all the stuff I sent Paula but when recently packing to move I found it! Whoops.... :) Oh well - noone has asked me for it, so don't stress about it. If they really want it, they'll chase you for it. I haven't heard a single boo out of anyone so I don't think you have anything to worry about... :) I have consultants local who could have come and chased me, i think your safe on the other side of the country! haha...
