Discussions : Off your chest... : I am so embarrased

Hi everyone.
I was setting up the Jewellery table at Friday nights show and I noticed 2 women walk in. I acknowledged them both. . I noticed one of them was pregnant ( or so I thought at the time)
She was an attractive woman, slim in the face, hands and legs, so I knew she was not overweight or anything. I noticed what looked like a 7 month pregnancy.
Anyway I continue to set up the table and then I notice her sitting behind me.
To be friendly I turn around and say " so, when are you expecting"?
She said " I am not"
I nearly died, i really did. I was hoping the ground would swallow me.
I apologised and said " I am so sorry" I looked down and I could see the shape of a pregnant woman. I said to her again " I am so sorry , but it is your dress" I tried to make it light hearted with some jokes and apologies but it did not work.
She wore leggings and this dress where the fabric was like ruffle and I swear the fabric would expand into the shape of a pregnant woman. If you did not know her, you would think she was. It was a horredous dress.
Anyway I have learnt a very big lesson here. I am normally so careful with things like that, but in this instance I really really really really thought she was pregnant.
Suffice to say I could not break the ice with her. She did not buy anything and did not come up to talk to me for the whole 2 hours. I did not even ask her to book a show as I was too embarrased and felt a bit uncomfortable.
bye all.

Oh how awful for you.
It would have been very diffucult to chat to her afterwards.
There is not much that you can do in this instance.
Very good lesson learnt, and a great lesson for others not to do the same thing.
I cannot say that I have ever been in that situation before.
But thanks for sharing that with us.
Sharon.

Hi Marina,
You poor thing, that's was a very difficult situation to be in.
I think I might have said something similar once apon a time ago and now I just dont go there unless someone mentions something first.
Lucky these situations dont happen too often!

Oh whats done is done! Yes it was a terrible mistake, but we are all human and make them. (you just won't be making any more of these again!!) Just learn from it !!! You are a great person, one stuff up is not going to blow you out of the water!!!
And anyway, FASHION!!! booooooo for it, there is none, you don't know who is who is what anymore.
EG: My friend was shopping with her new born baby and hubby (she is 35 and admittedly hubby is 47) and some person said oh you are so lucky you get to babysit the grandkids!!!!! Like, der!!!!
