I know we don't hear as much about Fly Buys cards anymore.  It seem in the 90's thats all we heard about.   But I've been thinking lately that if I used my FlyBuys card more effectively than it could even help me with my business.

More often than not I will pay for any orders using my credit card - its not only quicker when placing orders online but it also gives me some interest free period as well if I need it.    Soooo instead of using my usual card - if I swapped it to a NAB credit card - everytime I was placing orders not only would I be getting the fabulous commission that my company offers    but I'd also be clocking up some FlyBuy points!  When you consider its the customers money that pays for these credit card purchases - thats not really such a bad thing hey!        So I've just checked out www.flybuys.com.au again    .......

QUOTE:    With a linked NAB Credit Card, you can earn one FlyBuys point for every $5 of purchases that you make using your linked card during each statement period. And, if you make over $500 of purchases in a statement period, you will earn two FlyBuys points for every $5 of purchases (excluding the first $500).

Easy way to clock up some extra points for yourself to treat yourself something every 6 months or so.   I know I could use points next year to shout my partner to Conference with me instead of just myself!  or maybe shout myself an extra night in luxury accomodation!    Points can be used on rewards with Virgin Blue vouchers, Coles Myer voucher cards, flights, accomodation - heaps & heaps of things that can boost your business profile!

To be honest, I really haven't given much thought at my FlyBuys card - but I think '07 is the time to revamp it.   I'll start using my NAB credit card instead of my CBA one - and see how I go.  Even just my Vistaprint purchases on my NAB card would gain me more points!!

What does everyone else think?

PS To ensure your NAB credit card transactions work fully for you - you MUST ensure your NAB c/card & Fly Buys card are linked.  Details of this on the flybuys site - not hard to do

Kath that is so true.  I have a NAB already, just not linked!!!  I will do that immediately.

Last year, I finally cashed in my points (you got to watch expiry dates).  And got some gift cards.  It was a nice treat!!

And all the other ideas you mentioned are great too, interest free, faster transactions!!!

Hi,

I actually have a Coles/Myer Source Mastercard linked with Flybuys. It used to be a Myer store card, but they changed the company policy and it became a Mastercard able to be used at any store just as any regular credit card is.

I get 5 points per $5 spent, anywhere, on anything.  Plus-- if I use it at a Flybuys partcipating store and show my Flybuys card as well, then I get 7 points per $5 spent.

I never carry cash and pay for everything with the Source Mastercard. Groceries, petrol, bills, etc.

Every year in Oct/Nov I cash in my points for the giftcards and use them to do my Christmas shopping. I usually receive about $300-$400 worth of giftcards from my points.

Gotta love that free money.

When Flybuys first came out, I worked as a casual at K-Mart and was given the employee training rundown on how to make the most of it.

Since it came in, I must have had at least 4 free return flights, 3 nice weekends away, and probably redeemed about $1500+ in giftcards.

Not bad hey? So for the people that poo poo Flybuys, see, it really IS worth scanning that card each time at the checkout.

Well I have had a fly buys card for over 8 years and the only thing I have ever been able to get was one $20 gift voucher.  I don't think I have ever had over 3000 points.  Fairs fair as I don't have an NAB or Myer Card but I do swipe it everytime I go to Coles or K'art etc. I have even bought things with fly buys bonus points on them but I don't know why I don't get my points.

I thought that Myer wasn't involved with flybuys points any more... is this correct? Might be worth checking out any way...
