hi.
i have just joined this website to find out more about party plans as an income. I have been to the tax office website, and it seems that if you are going to seriously sell and not do party planning as a hobby then I have to have an ABN.
I was wondering whether anyone else out there has gone through the process of getting an ABN as a consultant, and has filed tax claims etc. Also wondering how GST works? i know the company has proabably included this in their costs, but how does it work for the individual consultant?
Any info would be helpful
Thanks

Rob, search 'tax', 'ATO' and 'ABN' and you'll come up with a wealth of previous posts on this topic.

in response to GST - you do not have to worry about doing a BAS statement until you earn over $75,000 in a financial year.
All you would need to do is track income, expenses, and speak to an accountant for other advise.
Goodluck! This website is full of knowledge.

(Isn't 'AngelKitty' the 'code name' for the secret government tax-evasion taskforce?)
