Discussions : Questions and answers : contemplating changing pp

I am not a party plan swapper. My belief has always been a sense of loyalty to the pp you choose, and I tend to not hold much credibility with the so called perpetual pp swappers. That is I won't book parties with those who are continuously jumping from one pp to another.
However, I am encountering some challenges with the company I am with, despite loving the product. I am thinking of making a transition in Aug/Sept with a similar product less the shoes.
To the party planners who have found themselves in a similar situation, has a change in company been detrimental to your business? I am very torn with my decision, as on the one hand I feel as I hve not achieved in what I set out to do and a disloyalty to the company I started with. On the other hand, like all business if they aren't working for you, maybe it is time to quit.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INUNDATE ME WITH MESSAGES OF LOOKING INTO YOUR PP BUSINESS. IF I DO MAKE A CHANGE, I HAVE ALREADY MADE A DECISION ON WHICH COMPANY TO TRANSFER TO.

Hi Cris,
I have also made the decision to leave my current pp as it just wasn't working for me. I was soooo excited when I started, but due to circumsances beyond my control (which I wont get into here, as I still love the products), but i feel its the best decision. I might be classed as a serial PPer by some, but as its only my second pp, i don't think i'm that bad, not to mention I am giving the whole business a break for a while, not going to jump into another PP 'just because'...
Anwyay, sorry for the rant, if you are finding you arent 110% happy, then do what's in your heart & head, don't listen to others. It sounds like you have made your decision, you just need someone to say GO FOR IT!
When/or if, you change, I suggest contacting all your clients and tell them about it and ask if they mind you contacting them again with your new business. You will find that most will continue to shop with you. :)
Good luck in making the transition, it will be a challenge, but you have the fundamentals in place, so you will succeed!

Hi Cris
I changed pp companies back in Nov 07. Like you I was of the belief in not chopping
& changing pp's. Due to a similar reason you are encountereing I made the decision to
change & I couldn't have made a better decision. My whole outlook on pp's has changed,
I have met lots of new people & have had much success with my new found business.
Follow your "gut instinct" & if you feel this is the thing to do then go for it.
I wish you all the success & happiness that I have found & more.
Natalie.

Hi Chris
Firstly I must say this must be a very hard decision for you and also one that you are not taking lightly....
From your other posts in this forum I think we all know that you are a very professional lady.
I believe party plan is like a diet, you just have to find the right one that works for you....
Before my current party plan I was with another and knew it wasn't right, but felt unsure about giving it up, I mainly left when I was due to have my second child.(Gave me a good excuse) and boy did I feel relieved afterwards.... and then I was very wary about getting back into party plan, so I did a lot of research and thank fully found the right one...
All the best with your decision.

Hi Cris;
I just had to add my two bobs worth, as a party plan owner I would be more that happy to make sure my business was the right one for a new girl as much for me as them.Talk to your new company and ask for thier help, gather as much info and then share this with your best hostesses.....they will be delighted that you value their opinion. It is important that they trust your NEW pp as you do, I dont think changing is a bad thing as you do need to be happy.....and as happens within the industry if a product isnt working we get rid of it and add a new one to replace...so think of changing as just a product change and make sure the new company offers you EVERYTHING that you need and want out of your business....
good luck and I say give it a go...

Change seems to be in the air...
Check out my re-introduction..
I was in 2 minds for a while for various reasons - when the thought first entered my mind I had no bookings and a run of slow parties, I decided not to leave then as I would be quitting instead of leaving. So over the last month I built up my forward program and attianed recognition for my work - that way I knew Iwas not going to bring my current problems accross I learnt how to get out of the rut. My seccond reason was being labelled as a serial pper by some of the bossy ones on here. But it is none of their business - you know your own reason for changing.
I have not looked back, I am loving the time I'm working(scrapping, not really work lol) and feel happier and more content.
As the others have said follow your gut, it took me a month of being miserable before I snapped and looking back I did not have to put myself through that.
Best wishes in your new venture.

Hi,
I have just in the last week joined another company but am still continuing with my first. I have been very successful with my first ever PP company, with great sales, quality products BUT i also had challenges with the company, not much support at all. I really enjoyed PP so i decided to spread my wings. It will be challenging for me trying to do both but maybe i will be able to let the first one go if i enjoy and succeed with the second. I first got invovled with party paln only in August 2007 but love it.
I beleive you need the support of the company even if your sales are great and product to match.
My thoughts,
Margie

Thankyou ladies for your great words of wisdom and support. You have made my decision making process so much easier. I will be leaving Tip Toes once I have honored my remaining parties which will be in a couple of weeks.
One question I asked myself which helped me make the decision to leave was; Does the company share my same values and ethics? and would I work for them within the terms of traditional employment?. The answer would be NO.
Thankyou again, I can stop beating myself up now.
