Is there such a thing?

when u party swap do u try for the person u swap with?

when they do your party, do you put effort into inviting people, going to trouble to have something nice to nibble on.... in the hope that they will do the same for  you.... but dont.

They dont try, no one comes, and sales are really bad, and then they cancel their orders at the last min!

they get great sales from their PP they did for you cause u really tryed but they dont care and just really wanted sales for them selfs... and just had a party for you cause it was a swap.. and didnt invite anyone, or even put the same effort in!

does anyone get me hehe....

but anyways THIS IS WRONG

and if u dont intend to do a party swap right, and honestly then I wouldnt bother doing them at all...!!!!

So far I have done 2 party swaps...which are both only half done...meaning that I have had a party for somebody and awaiting them to have a return party (which is already booked for next month) and someone has had a very SUCCESSFUL party for me and I am returning the party over the next few months.

I know there are some "serial swappers" out there that probably don't go to as much effort as what they should.

I have committed to a few party swaps and have spaced them out...at least 1 to 2 months apart otherwise your friends will NOT want to come and if they do they will NOT want to buy and it is not fair to either PP consultant.

I have also had a party for another PP which generated more bookings etc without asking for a party in return.

If you don't want/like the product DONT have a party for the sake of a swap there are other ways to generate bookings and sales.

I've also done 2 party swaps so far - one for Tupperware & just had one for Partylite.  Tupperware was great from both sides (I'm hoping the Tupperware rep was happy too!) and my Partylite went well although the other side is having their party next month, but should also do well.
I'm also doing a party swap with an Intimo rep so will see how that goes next month.
I try to space them with plenty of time in between to ensure people have enough time to save up - plus I have quite a few different circles of friends and I find that I get a mix of different friends at each one anyway, which I think helps.
Plus I enjoy being able to check out some of pp's I've never heard of or haven't seen in a long time!  Not to mention being able to catch up with friends each time!

There was an article on here many moons ago (oh yep I'm an oldie - sorry for having my say) - about the negatives of party swapping - taken from a pp guru book author.  MANY MANY of the highest level pp gurus that have written pp books do not support party swapping in any form what so ever.

And even though I am an oldie, I can say this and guarantee it is the most successful piece of advice you will get RE party swapping.  ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure the other consultant holds your party first.  Be adament.  If they don't like that idea - tuff!!  It's only one party - there will always be another one (better one) around the corner.  Think about it ......  you can then return the favour at the same level they did for your pp.

I don't do party swaps full stop.  I will swap catalogues, and I will have/conduct parties for PPers but I don't expect one in return and I make it clear that I am not obliged to have one for them - but that if I decide I *would* like a partylite or gekho or TW or whatever party I will return the favour.  I'm honest and upfront and it hasn't been a problem.  I find the disappointment of uneven parties in a swap just leads to friction and upset and its not necessary.

Frankly, if I am interested in the products themselves then I will have a party - it is unfair on both of us if I book one just because they had one for me and not because my friends and I want to purchase the products.

So in a nutshell, as a consultant and hostess I don't SWAP - I either host or conduct and appreciate the rewards of either position ie the hostess gifts and commission.  If down the track the positions are reversed well to me that is an added bonus.

I am always a sucker (well is how I feel) I do party swaps run around get great sales for them and then when mine comes around am let down expecially when you are doing a nice thing for them and get outside booking which they wouldnt have had and open up a new group of people to them,

Now I choose which ones I do I have a few catalogue parties to do but am trying to space them out so friends dont feel like I am making them order all time.

CMmumoftwo replied:

Yeah Im like that now too, only swap with ppl who I wanna.. not jsut for a sale but cause I enjoy it

I did a fundraiser thingy with a room full of PPers and one lot really wanted a CA party, even offered me a specific date, BUT only on the condition that it was a party swap.  The stuff they sold held no interest to me at all so I turned them down.

It is ironic but I am not a fan of hosting PP parties! lol No one ever turns up when I have them, so I stopped. Although I did have one recently and it was a sucessful, I have no plans on having anymore.

Yes I was "caught" out too. I offered a friend a party swap as she said she wanted to re-launch her PP ...so I suggested we do a party swap...Ohh yes!!! She did hers and sales were good!!! And when it was my turn I... msg'ed her the day before I was due to do her party and low and behold she can't do it ....her other half was sick...which is fine but I haven't heard from her as she is suppost to re-book!!!!! I don't like party swaps....

Hi Everyone,

I recently signing up for a party swap a few months ago on this site with another PP. Had my party of course had a great party great sales etc. PP said would be in touch with me to place an order.  That was six weeks ago....have emailed twice now no reply. Yet have seen this person has logged on so I'm sure they have had a chance to read my emails.

Hoping this person keeps there word and makes contact.

I have only ever done one party swap - or atleast tried too.

I collected $200 in outside orders, one of my friends booked a party from this girl.

She cancelled the party on me and then rescheduled, then she booked another party of her own on the night that we rescheduled to, and now she ignores all my calls and emails.

I really believed that party planners would be there for each other - we all know how difficult it can be at times.

I would like to party swap again sometime, but now I have been burned I will make sure my party always happens first!!!

look4me replied:

wow i am really shocked that consultants would do that to each other especially when they know what its like to be a consultant themselves i would not have the guts to do that to someone . when i first heard of this idea i thought it was great i wouldnt do it personally just because my friends arnt that reliable i have trouble trying to get them to do 1 for me lol and i wouldnt want to dissapoint a fellow consultant but if you do decide to do it maybe have them on the same day or 1 day apart that way if they dont hold up their end you can just cancel your parties order its a bit harsh but if they wernt willing to hold up there end then why should you. good luck with your buisness whatever it may be im with undercover wear and really really love it i seriously cant ever imagine giving it up this is the job for me for life.and i hope everyone out there is enjoying what they do as much as i do. take care

CMmumoftwo replied:

thats a great idea, doing it days between each other so if one dont hold u their bargin u can cancel their orders....
