hi everyone, i had a party last night and one of my guests decided she was going to get really drunk, which i dont really mind as long as they dont start yelling at me and swearing at me.
she asked me what something was on my rack to which i said its a 250thread count sheet, she then says really loud well i know its a f*&^ing sheet what is it made out of, then after I had been talking for a while she yells out OMG are you going to talk about everything,i nearly cried
, look i try to keep the demos short to about 30-45 mins at the longest, , then abused me regarding the price of something. has this happened to anyone? i guess its to late to do anything about that woman now. In the end she spent about $30 which is fine and everyone else spent up big the whole party was $1900 so i guess that makes up for it. well thats my little vent about that.

What an obnoxious cow! But it sounds like you managed to shrug off her rude comments and carry on with the sales. $1900!!! Way to go!
Imagine being the hostess and having one of your guests get so drunk she insulted the consultant... how embarassing!
Kim, unfortunately loud mouthed guests with ill-informed comments are everywhere. Some of them don't even have to get drunk to start mouthing off! Try not to dwell on her stupid comments, it sounds like the rest of the guests were not put off buying from you. Take their attitude and ignore her.

You have obviously done something right.
Sounds like you handled it well, otherwise you would not have made $1900 worth of sales, and the guest did not have the credibility to influence the other guests.
I have not had a drunk guest before, but I have had guests who openly and loudly criticised the products in a misguided attempt to humour. More often, they are people with a low self esteem who try to make themselves look good by putting everything around them down. Also, for some it is difficult to admit they may not be in a good financial place, so it is easier to knock the product, rather than admit they cannot afford it.

WOW what great sales Kim I am so impressed!!! I am sure she did make you feel bad at the time but seeing she was drunk it wasn't personal....

Well talking about getting drunk!
I had a party on Thursday night (and I am not going to mention the company) but it was the most BORING 90mins I have had to endure!
Yes I did have a few to drink...and so did my friends...to overcome the BOREDOM!
I will NEVER hold another of these parties!
But we were not rude or abuse the consultant as I would NEVER do that or allow my guests to.
I'm not sure how much she sold...as she didn't tell me and she DIDNT get any future bookings...which isnt suprising.
I think the consultant should of adjusted her demonstration to suit the hostess and guests then maybe it would of been more successful for her.
Baby....sounds like you did a great job over all! Well Done.

Donna, I'm shocked... 90 Minutes?!?!
Did you approach her and tell her that you found it a bit long winded? From one party planner to another, you could have given her some tips on shortening the presentation without skipping all the important bits.
Maybe she was just new to the business and a little unsure on what to do? Perhaps if you did chat with her about the business, it wouldn't have been so boring. (I think that sounds rude, but its not ment to be!).

She got there at 6:50...started demonstration at 7:20 and stopped at 9pm...and no she was definately not new to PP....she was an area manager!
Ladywytch replied:
Kim,
I think we have all had a drunk at a party - or those that have been in pp for awhile.
My 'funniest' was a girl that tried on a dress of ours then forgot where she put her own clothes, burst into tears, had the rest of the guest searching high and low for her gear only to found in the hostesses washing machine (halfway through the spin cycle). We just had to throw the stuff in the drier and wait for our dress - and no I wasn't leaving without it and she wouldn't put anything on that the hostess gave her because the girl that owned them 'was a whore' to the girls face. She was paraletic +++. When she finally got dressed she called her husband to come and get her only problem was that he had left her 4 weeks previously probably why she got drunk in the first place - poor dear.
I am very proud of you though 1900 in sales despite a beligerent drunk is an achievement.

Far out, what a women!!
but the sales WOW.. thats awsome
u obviously handled it well!
Angel replied:
What a charming guest!!!! It seems like you handled it well though - it's just a pity she got you upset. Honestly, people like her aren't worth any tears. But I have to wonder what her story is - maybe she has a troubled personal life, there are lots of reasons why people behave like that. Not that it's an excuse - it isn't - but it may be a reason.
But I would put up with one of her a week if it meant $1900 parties every time - even $1000 would do nicely!!! ROFL. Sorry - I don't mean to make light of your upset - but you learn to take it all in your stride after a while.
SubculturalMum replied:
Im sorry about the guest, but if i had to have just one guest like that, and get those $$$$ sales, then bring it on! lol, perhaps the others wanted to make up for her as they felt bad or embarrassed? either way, well done for such a good party anyways.
Donna - I think its how the 90 mins is spent........ if I had to just sit and listen to someone for 90 mins id be bored too! My parties can take 90 mins, but its all hands on stuff, and taste testing liqueurs, oils, vinegars etc... so the guests arent just sitting there kinda thing.. they are all involved. As everyone gets to taste and feel etc, depending on how many guests are there, depends on how long it takes.
I have people drinking at all my parties, lol, some are happy with just the tastings I offer, others are drinking their own drinks on top of it all. Im very lucky that I havnt had any rude drunks just yet.... just happy drunks :)
