When i got to my car after saturdays party one of my tyres was flat. it was just on midnight, cold and a little dark outside of the hostess house. After trying the door bell a number of times.( they didn;t hear it due to the loud music playing out the back where they were enjoying a drink) I thought well better do it myself as hubby would have been asleep and nrma takes a good half an hour.

I got out a pump my hubby put in my car for pumping up balls at picnics etc - plugged it in and even though it was a little one - it got my tyre pumped enough to get to a service station to finish the job. it took 20 minutes but it did it.

Just as i was finishing up 2 guests came out and commented "why didn';t u knock on the door-
urggh!!! could have screamed but I am proud that i did it myself,

I am glad my DH put this little pump that bangs when i go over a bump. i was planning to take it out but i'm glad i didn't.

cheers

Go Irene!!!

My father made me learn to change a tyre before he'd let me take the car out on my own and I renew my RACQ subscription faithfully every year in case (like it was last time) the nuts are done up too tightly for me or even hubby to undo.

My MIL got a flat many years ago and called my FIL to come and help.  He did so, but then took the car to the fire station (where he was the station officer) and made her change the tyres on the car in the main street in front of everyone.  To this day she too can change a tyre without batting an eyelid.

Our local Toyota dealer does "women and wheels" evenings to teach women about how to care for their cars and to deal with overheating, tyres, oil etc.

Cheers for all the Independent Women of the world!!!!!
