I feel for you. I once had the same rubbish happening to us. We were lucky enough to have a phone that you could put onto loudspeaker. Once they were on loudspeaker we would hit the mute button. They could say all the things they wanted to without being able to hear us at all! Then, when they hung up to ring back we would stay on the line and they couldn't  hang up because they had called us. IF a person calls you and you don't hang up they can't call out. So, still no noise from us and can't hang up to ring back-MAN did that make them mad!! lol They kept trying to hang up the phone and call back for over an hour. They had to give up in the end cause they had lost all there puff. The best part was that they couldn't call ANYONE at all so that infuriated them the most. Every time they called we went through the same thing of SPEAKER.....MUTE.....NOT HANGING UP. No more dramas now.

Maybe you could try the same thing. Good luck!!

I have found that both Telstra and Optus have a little known and very appropriate service for just this sort of thing.

It is called selective call divert where once established you can have a list of up to 30 numbers that you can divert anywhere you wish, normally back to the number calling so they get a busy signal.

I was thinking the local brothel but decided to be good - this time.

Instead, I rediredted it to my police friend, who is on holdiays but when this number came up answered "Senior Contsable 'blah'. How may I help you".

Two more phone calls and my mate had a peaceful day. 

Ladies, there is more than one way to kill a rather annoying, beligerent, b****y cat and we managed it. 

Unfortunately for the cat 3 calls in a short period of time after a history of others incidents is enough to warrant a stalking order.  Holds a bigger penalty when broken than a DVO.

I am smiling today.
