Hi guys,

I was just curious as I was going through the forum.

Does anyone sell there products through post or word of mouth

as I am not interested in doing parties. I basically want to get

some ideas from people that do there sales like avon do. I apologise

if im not meant to mention company names but im not advertising.

I just would like some ideas. I have put out 50 books in three streets and my customers havent blossomed.  I have thought of leaving my

books in beauty shops and banks etc and doctors waiting rooms.

I guess I should just be patient.  I just hope i can average more than

1 customer a month.  I am selling to 4 a month but the other 3 are family .

So if there are any ideas or web sites to look at or books to read

please let me know.

Thanks Bernadette

I think the nature of the PP business is that it is all about customer service - that is what separates buying from PP's from buying in stores. People like being about to touch/feel/see the products for themselves at a party and have a fun time doing it. So if people only see a catalogue they are far less likely to buy things than if they saw the products for themselves. I ring around people when each new Learning Ladder catalogue comes out and see if they want to take a look...but generally, if I don't ring back to follow them up they won't ring back even when they do like the product and want to place an order or even have a party!!!! People are just busy. So it really is all about talking to people and being about to sell the product to them yourself. So really,if you are selling thru direct sell the best way really seems to be face to face. That's my experience anyway...

Bernadette, check this post on letterbox drops. They can work, but it is pretty labour intensive. Face to face is always going to be easier, and probably cheaper!

Hi Bernadette,

when I first started a year ago I only sold to family and friends using word of mouth to grow my customer base. As my confidence grew I began to sell to my nieghbours. I grew my business at my own pace. There are no parties to conduct, no minimum order etc you really are in control it your business.
