Last night I turned up to do a 7pm party, when I got there the hostess advised that about 6 people have called to say they weren't coming.....so I'm thinking "great, theres gonna be 2 people here"
Anyway by around 8pm 16 people had shown up...now I'm thinking "woohooo...big bucks"
As it turned out I sold $550 and 1 future booking.
There were mainly young girls there (19 - 25), they didnt purchase anything, all purchases were made by the older ladies.
Comments from the younger ones....old fashioned jewellery, something I'd buy for my grandma...etc Whereas the older ones loved it.
So I think I'm gonna start looking at other Jewellery Party Plans available....anyone got any ideas?

Hi Donna
Just wanted to find out a few things before you jump into something new.
Have you had these comments before? Perhaps it was just the crowd on the night. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes your customers will follow each other in their selections and comments. For example one customer doesn't like a product and is quite vocal about it, so all of a sudden everyone then doesn't like it. Unfortunately a lot of people feel too insecure in front of their friends to say what they really think. It may have been that this happened, think back was it just a few girls saying this or everyone? If you get this, try to focus on the vocal one's and find them something they like, then gauranteed they will sell it for you!!!!!
What do you feel about the jewellery, do you think it is suited to a limited market?
Also, another reason they may not have purchased was because they could not afford it at the time, (not saying your products are expensive) but often people will make negative comments to cover up that they have just had a few large bills coming in and they have to be careful with spending. This is where you can turn them into a booking.....
So I guess what I am saying is don't give up too quickly, we can't win them all over, try to turn things into a positive, maybe you just need to focus on a different target group. For next time think of saying this to the younger ones "So why not then pick something out for your Mum or Grandmother for Mothers day then, or as a special gift".
Just some thoughts for you...
All the best
Jo

I realise that it can be difficult to sell to a younger age group. However, we find that although they do not spend as much as those over 30, they do spend something and they are likely to book a party with their mums. their mums ask their friends along, they ask their friends and their friends mums along and it can turn out to be a great party.
If you are interested in more information, please email me on info@foodieparties.com.au. Check out our website at www.foodieparties.com.au. FYI - I am booked out to end of May; we need more consultants !!!
Cheers

I have to agree with Jo's reply, she has made a lot of good points. Also knowing the market that you're product is suitable for means more hits and less misses if you know what sort of person likes the line you're carrying. Don't knock the older woman, she is in control of her money, and would probably enjoy the party more than the younger, more fickle audience. Also, she knows what she likes! A major plus for any salesperson if you ask me LOL.
All you can do is put it out there, and try to find the people that would like to buy what you're selling and don't worry about the ones that aren't interested too much, because we all can't like the same thing. Josie.

Yes I know we can't all like the same things, however the Jewellery I sell does not cater for all....well I think so anyway, thats why I'm looking at alternatives.
dollgal replied:
Yes, maybe you could branch out into a couple of lines if you find that one doesn't fit the bill. Still it could pay to be a bit cautious before tossing your current plan away and joining a new one. There must be something about the original one that you liked that you think could work? Josie.
