What makes you look?

I have just started attending regular markets in my local area. I was wondering as customers what makes you take a closer look at someones stall?

I know that first impressions are very important so I need to get ppl to look at and then  approach the stall.

i wouldn't say that people have to try and get me to look at their products (if that makes sense), if i walk past and i notice something that i like, i will stop and look through if the products interest me.

Hi,

I have posted previous about my personal market success a few weeks back.  If you have a product that not all stallholders have you are on a sure winner.  Also I find if I do a market i never request to be in the same spot twice if i continue to retrun.  My theory behind that is that if you are in a different area people will look because you were not there last month or the month before.  I only do markets every couple of weeks and my aim is to succeed with bookings.  Make yourself look differnet from the person next door.

With my childrens range there are over 300 stall holders at the markets BUT only a couple with clothes and mine stand out as good quality and great brands. I have people asking me will i be at the markets.

Markets are a great way to create a customer base.

Cheers,

Hi,

I don't think its just on your product, I think visuals play a massive part so maybe a big poster or something bright that catches your eye. People might not want or need to buy the product now but something bright could stick in there mind for when they might need it or someone asks them about it.

I know when I'm looking at markets I'm so overwhelmed with stuff that just things like that catch my eye and draw me in.

Also music is good too!
Have you ever gone somewhere like out shopping at a plaza or something and wonder where the music has come from?

Also,  a big thing for customer service is to look like your having fun because it you look like your down in the dumps, people are going to feel uncomfortable to approach you and ask about your product so even if you are bored out of your brain or too hot at least do something or smile heaps to look like your having some sort of fun or at least happy to be there to flash your products and PP to them.

I hope some of that helps I haven't done a market stall yet, I'm trying to find out about them but when I managed a Christmas Shop I know that this worked well and I wish you the best of luck with your stall! :)

Deinately the visual aspect is a good one.

For me as a customer the display can't be too overcrowded or messy, I want to see exactly what is on the table and the prices.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am working on a few different ideas to make my stalls more visually appealing. Having a product that most people haven't come across before is making it easy to attract attention..... but I want to attract more buyers!!!

One of the things I am trying to do is to give the tables more texture (not the right word) and have different heights on it rather than just flat if you get what I mean.

My DH has bought me a gazebo with walls so my task next market is to make better used of the walls as a means of displaying the Felt backgrounds in particular.

I have gone through and price marked everything I have in stock, so that is one point taken car of already.

Well I wish you heaps of luck!

More buyers I dunno how to help because it depends on the person...

I know that I love finding specials so if you have anything on sale I think accentuating how much cheaper it is or if I buy one of something I might like do I get another one free, etc...
