I presume everyone here has been to a Sizzler buffet resturant before?

Well, today I was there with a couple of mates.. and guess what I found in my lettuce...

I green tree frog!

Yes, you did read correct. There was a frog in the salad.

The frog was cute.. but that's gross!

It ruined our appetite and lunch completely.

Lucky I did not discover it in half in my mouth.

Anyone  got some other food stories to share?

(I have 3 more from other venues)

I do not know if I should laugh or choke. What did you do?

I would like to know what management reacted like??

partyplans replied:

We discovered that Sizzler is run by kids.

They simply picked up the lettuce leaf with the frog, and took it to the kitchen. that's it. "Sorry about that"

I believe the manager is a kid who is 3 years older than the rest (and probably gets paid $3 per hour more for the title)

Although.. I am not sure if the frog was alive.. or dead and just stuck there rotting.

SaucyKath replied:

May sound nasty but I'd be going further with this - maybe a quick email to the local paper or at the very least contacting the Director of Sizzler (what's his name......Beau something - he's always got his "mug" on telly).

I think establishments like this need to know that they need more than just "kids" running their restaurants - I actually would've thought that after the whole "rat poison" event that Sizzler would've upped their game by now!

My brother in  law was eating a hamburger from a well known hamburger restaurant when half way through he was going to take another bite  when he saw a caterpillar wriggling.

IT CAME FROM THE LETTUCE.

I swear I never eat salads at restaurants or anything salad based. They are never washed properly.

All in all we do not eat out on a regular basis as when we did we always had gastro and stomach upsets and the final call was food poisoning.

When we do eat out we are unbelievably fussy and try and stick to something we feel is safe.

So far it has been nearly 5 years with no upsets/ gastro / food poisoning.

partyplans replied:

Well Marina, funny you should mention that..

This leads into my NEXT story...

  ....involving a Kabab.

I had taken several bites, then,  looking towards the 'next bite'.. there was a grub in the lettuce! ewww!

Fortunately, It was completely intact!

There must be more stories! Lets hear them!

indicolina replied:

And here I was thinking Kebabs were safe.  Dang thats put me off.

CuddleBee replied:

I don't know that I would be happy with just a sorry... I think I would like to know exactly what was going to be done to prevent it happening again... I mean a dead frog (or a live one) could potentially make you really sick... ick!

Wow I was just reading ....

I went to Sizzler years ago and both my hubby and I threw up less than 1 block away after leaving the restaurant.  We went pack and asked for our money back but were told that they had time delay lockso n their safes and that we'd have to come back the next day when "management" would be there.  Now I wonder why they were running a restaurant with no one managing it??

I worked for Subway for a almost 10 years.  Only came accross "food poisoning" cases 3 times.  Each of these times the person in question had either eaten something from somewhere else that day or with others or eaten one of our most popular tems that had been eaten by plenty of others including staff who did not get sick.  I can also guarantee that All the fresh vegetable at Subway are washed before serving as part of the preparation process and that staff must wear gloves at all times.

Whataheart replied:

Guess what I just got a job offer from Sizzler.....lol

Hee hee thoroughly grossed out now thanks everyone lol.  My sister used to love broccoli until she found half (yes one half) of a snail in it one night... Even now I can't eat it without cutting it into tiny pieces ...
