Hi Girls,

If anyone has considered attending this expo as an exhibitor but was scared off at the cost please pm me with your email address as I have received an email this afternoon with the offer to exhibit for 30% off so I can forward the email to you. This is a "no name" so any could approach them for a 30% off stall. It is being held in Perth, Brisbane (save $795 for a small stall), Sydney and Melbourne. The website is www.thewomensshowcase.com.au/#. It would be a good expo for those who sell womens products etc.. and could go in with the cost with other company consultants.

Cheers

Janine

This event looks awesome and lots of fun, probably won't have a stall there, but I'm thinking of getting the girlfriends together and going as a group, what a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zammy replied:

Hey Janine,
Could you forward that email to me please!
This event was called the Every Woman Expo last year and it was absolutely fabulous!
We had a stall and it was definately a worthwhile investment. Also had a fantastic time as a guest wandering around and checking out everyone else's stall.
Thanks for sharing the link!

Hi Janine,

Could you send me the email too please?? Thank you!

Karen

Janine replied:

Ren, Karen, Shannon and Kathy - you should all have a copy of the email. Let us know if any of you are attending so if anyone goes to the expos they can drop by and say hi!

candlekaren replied:

I have registered to attend! The cost was a bit scary but hopefully it will be worth it. I want all the girls in my team to be able to spend some time there over the three days so they can benefit from it too and hopefully build up their businesses.

Hi girls,

Just heard some disturbing news about this expo and thought you all should know.  Apparently this biz has gone belly up, the website is closed down, so is the phones and they have done a runner with the monies paid.  This is extraordianary considering they got over 10,000 through the door last year (so they told us)  We are fortunate that we didn't pay any money, but my heart goes out to anyone who has and now has to chase it up.

sorry for being the messager of bad tidings but thought you ought to know.

oh my goodness.. is this for real.

i was so close to paying the money but changed my mind at the last minute.

but i do know a couple of girls that did pay the money.

just wondering how did you find out?

Lilygirl_wytch replied:

the warning came through a business associate who also had paid money to them.  They were told through a corporate business associate not to pay any money as it has gone bust and they have fled with the money.  When I tried to check out the website it's no longer there, and if you try to ring their phone numbers, they've been disconnected.  What low lifes to do this to people!

Karen how are you going with this all??

candlekaren replied:

I just read the post - have to look into it I suppose. Yes - I already paid all my money!! About $1600. Will let you know how I go or if anyone else finds out anything about it please let me know.

Lilygirl_wytch replied:

I'll see if I can find out more for you too, it's such a shame, as I was told it was a big success last year.

Just to let you know, I just received this in an email from the group that organize the showcase:

To whom it may concern, We regret to advise you that Platinum Event Management has closed due to bankruptcy.    We have recently been in the process of trying to secure financial assistance to avoid this action but have been unsuccessful.   As a result all future shows have been cancelled.  The Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia (ITSA) will be in contact with your directly in regards to refunding any money owing to you.  All future correspondence or enquiries MUST be directed through ITSA.  Contact with directors or staff of Platinum Event Management is not permitted now that ITSA is looking after this matter.  Contacting Platinum Event Management directly will be treated as harassment.      Our sincerest apologies, Platinum Event Management.

Hopefully that means we may see our money again!!

Depends on whether it was voluntary bankrupcy or if they were wound up. But basically going into bankruptcy IS a way out of all your debts and obligations - sometimes not a very moral one but a way out never the less.

I honestly would kiss $$$ goodbye..  Insolvency - especially if forced - is a long process and if they pay out to any of you it is considered preferencial payment which is illegal and holds massive penalties for the company concerned (jailable offence for the company director) and those that get paid if it is deemed preferential payment.  The list of payments usually goes from the largest $$$ owing down the line, so if these guys owe massive $$$ to even one company the smaller businesses have no chance, although it is highly unlikely that ANYONE gets paid.

Been on the receiving end of a couple of wound up/bankrupt companies when we ran our customs brokers.

It is bad news for all and their letter is spot on, it is considered harrassment for anyone to contact them directly and can be a finable/jailable(depending on the level of harrassment) offence.

P.S. DON'T GIVE UP THOUGH, GO TO ITSA AND PUT IN YOUR CLAIM - YOU MAY GET LUCKY IF THE FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE WHEN ASSETS ARE SOLD.
