The Bank Teller was rude and mean

Discussions : Off your chest... : The Bank Teller was rude and mean

Hi Every one,

I went to the Bank today all cheery and happy with my cheque. I said to the teller if she can please photo copy the cheque for my own personal records ( I like to keep a memento of all my bonus cheques.)

To my astonishment she says to me " Marina this is the last time I am going to do this for you"

She has done it twice in the past. I have had it photocopied at other branches without a problem.

I said to her " I cannot believe you are saying this. What is the problem. I have been a customer of the banks for a very long time. It is not like I ask you to do it everyday." I said a few other things about customer service, etc.

I also said to her" I will pay you to do it, that is not a problem."

Anyway she got really nervy and her whole demeanor had changed. She went to photocopy the cheque and you could tell she was very upset with me.

Anyway she handed me the receipt and I said " I do not know why you are upset with me as I did nothing wrong.  I apologise if I have ruined your day"

She then says "I do not want to discusss this any further and she left visibly upset."

I was pretty upset as well.  So what started as a happy morning was ruined by another person who lacked customer service skills and did not want to give her job 110%.

How many times have I been to this bank only to stand in line for over 15 minutes. Do I get upset and take it out on them.  NO!

I feel like writing a complaint letter about this person. I do not know what to do. Maybe I am over- reacting?

I had to let this out. I feel a bit better.

Kindest regards

marina

Sorry to hear about you day Marina

...however... you have given me an idea for a new forum section: A "Get it off you chest" section.

A special section where everone can write things like this (ie anything - and even if it is not related to party plans). It would be good therapy for the concerned.. and good entertainment for the rest!

What does everyone think??

  • Your PP company charging too much for promotional material (that actually helps them)?
  • School fees for 2007 too high?
  • Hubby not pulling his weight in the house?
  • Best friend stole your husband?
  • etc, etc

Hi Marina,

I too would be like you so do not feel bad about what you said. I have worked on counters in retail and know that no matter how crappy your day has been you still have to be polite and considerate to your customers so there is no excuss for such rudness. If it were me as I left I would thank her very nicely and then say I hope you have a wonderul day. Go out of your way to be over nice and friendly. Or next time act over excited about your bonus cheque saying how you earned it etc...

Chin up Marina as you would know for all the people out there who ar not so friendly and nice you will always finds more that are just delightful.

Cheers

Janine

Hi Marina

I agree with what Janine has said in her reply.

Having someone be mean and nasty to you leaves a bad taste in  your mouth and it makes u wonder what type of service you are going to get the next time you walk into that particular branch - it even makes u consider at times whether it is worth continuing doing business with them at all.

Keep your chin up!!

I am sure everyone is going to have heaps of stories on unfair situations, bad customer service, rude people, etc.

I sent in my complaints letter via email to the complaints department - feedback. Will let you know what they say.

Keep those stories coming.
