Geez kids cost you a fortune!!!!

Maddi goes for her first of four orthodontist appointments after school today - $1900 deposit for braces.

Total cost for fitting and follow ups: nearly $6000!

Looks like I'd better get busy and book some more parties!

Oh my!

I remember my folks paying almost 3 thousand dollars total back when I was in High school for railway tracks on my teeth. Any form of dental work is expensive, LOL...I should have been a dentist!

I Can remember when i had my braces on it wasnt a cheap excercise back in the early 80's. I think it cost mum and dad about $3000 approx then i have a plate for 18 months as well along with moulds done both before and after. Not a cheap excercise thats for sure.

Forget the rug rats. I have an appointment with a cosmetic dentist next week and am looking at a blue fortune in repairs (feel like an old car).

Years of one sort of medication for epilepsy has really messed with my teeth and I think it is about time I did something about it - I love telling people I am going to get implants - they immediately look down - hehehe.  I think dentists would have a better reputation if they didn't charge so much. As it stands now, they hurt when thet pull your teeth, then again when they pull your wallet.

Wish me luck,

M

I hope she feels better soon,  She is lucky she has a mum that is taking care of this now, I have a friend that got her braces when she was 30 and said they hurt more than when you are younger.

I know the feeling Kelly,

I took Jake to the dentist and he had to have a tooth removed and the dentist said that later on he will need braces. With his extraction, my clean and some x-rays the bill was $456.00. OMG... I am sooo glad I didn't opt out of my Private Health Insurance (with the last increase I was going to) as my out of pocket expense was only $14.60......  Now that I know he has to have braces I am definately going to continue with the Insurance as the amount I pay every fortnight is much better than having to pay a huge amount at the time.

I hope Maddie feels better soon....... Something I have to look forward to in a couple of years......
