Everyday I receive 12 messages telling me how to improve my love stick or penis size via drugs. Then I get the cheap viagra messages and then the online pharmacist as well?????Im not a male or a junky. To top it all off the drug company hacks into my website and puts a lovely virus advertising their rubbish. It never stops.Does anyone else have the same problems?

Hennypenny replied:

Hmmm,

I have noticed that since about 3-4 weeks ago I am getting at least 10 or more of those type of emails every day!

Sooooo annoying. Only ever used to get the occasional one here and there but now it is just ridiculous. A couple of my friends have had this start happening too. I'm OK on the virus front though - my security resolves any apparent issues really quickly.

It makes you wonder if these people actually get anything out of it??? I mean - who would be stupid enough to actually click the link to buy it?

I get so much spam about " all the rude stuff" now it is up to 30 emails a day.. they all go into junk email and then i delete them.

I always tell my daughter" do not go into my emails"

the words are very offensive.....

i really am sick and tired of this and wish there was something i could do.

Kelly replied:

I get the same things and no matter how often you report them as spam it keeps on happening. If only you could find out who it really is and send them a bill for your time! B#$$%& time wasters

Zammy replied:

Next time you update your virus protection, have a think about what type of email protection it provides.
I use outlook to view my emails and my anti-virus takes all spam email and puts it in a seperate folder.
I check through there periodically when I have time to make sure nothing inappropriate is ending up in there, but I've found it's a great way to avoid the timewasting spam :)

FoodDude replied:

Where I used to work, we had a program called dspam that was web based and it filtered everything before it got into your inbox.  I am sure if you google it, you could probably get hold of it.  I think it might even be free ware or share ware.  It is really good, because you actually train it as to what is spam and what is not.

Another idea is to have an email address that is webmail, ie does not come to your Outlook that you use if you sign up to anything online.  Everyone does realise that, that is where they get the email addresses from ??

Cheers (and beers!!)

partyplans replied:

A lot of the spam I get is sent to multiple addresses with very similar spelling...

kap@domain.com

kapa@domain.com

kape@domain.com

kapo@domain.com

kap1@domain.com

etc.   ... Like they randomly generate heaps of combinations and hope some actually work

Also, if you put your email address up public on any site (such as this one!) the spam bots will find it.

If you want to display your email anywhere on the web, make an image that contains it instead of using text. (See our consultant directory for an example)

Usually spammers use automatic robots to scan pages for anything that looks like an email address, while images are human readable only.

Great advice from all of you,I can tell bt the amount of times this post has been read that Im not alone with these rotters. They probably even enjoy reading our posts.

The best advice is given by those who learn the hard way!

I have noticed if I view my own site EG: the email form another spam message will arrive at the same time.I will be removing that page soonish.(Its a great way to judge how much traffic you have generated to  your site Thanks)

To the ebay and paypal fraudsters, people telling me to verify my bank account due to hackers, the sob story illnesses and the buried fortunes What You Give Is What You Get Returned

Thankyou again for your great advice

Hey Peter, I just noticed in the company directory, our email addresses are not disguised.  Do you think you could try that as well ?  Cheers!

partyplans replied:

Actually, we will be removing all email addresses!

All email contact (consultants / companies / us) will be via our new contact system...

Firstly, the 'sender' has to enter a 'captcha' code (ie what they see in a picture containing some numbers/letters) before sending. This ensures it is actually a human writing the message and not some spam bot.

The 'sender' will also get sent an email with a copy of their message and a 'send' confirmation link.

The message is not delivered until they click the confimation link (that way you know their return email address is correct). It also allows them to have a copy of their correspondence.

If they gave a dodgy email, you will not get spammed, and they will just think they were successful.

ETA is 1-2 weeks

Grrrreat! This is a real learning curve for me,Im no computer expert so I need to know how to put it all into practice for my own site!Ever so slowly onwards and upwards. These nasties have my pass word to my web site and control panel (not for long I hope)and Im only a tiny company

Cheers Mr PP

HandsOn replied:

hi Rich,

Sometimes they don't necessarilly know your password, rather they just use a hack to gain access. Get your hosting provider to change your password, and then you should go through your website and remove any LINKS to your email address, (the kind that when you click on it, it opens an email window) and if you have a form - rethink it, if a form is not secure, that is how they will get in. They inject a code in to your form, and voila instant access to your website and your cpanel.

I just looked at your website actually, and noticed the entire website is gone. Is this on purpose, or has something gone wrong??

Jo

SexxxyThingz replied:

Yep its gone,I dont mean to slander anyone but a hosting company starting with M_ Webhosting are getting a very bad name. There are blogs and forums full of disgruntled customers
