Especially when it comes to keeping customer files. I am keeping mine in Manilla folders - 1 for each customer and they are becoming a hassle. Anyone else have any good ideas? I prefer not to file using a pc.
Please share your other ways you keep your businesses organised
Thanks....

I have ring binders for copies of paperwork for all parties but for everything else I use the old fashioned index cards in a box on my desk. They are all alphebetical and as I talk to a customer I note down their interests, kids, hubby, dog names etc., birthdays and favourite pieces as well as the important stuff like address, phone and email etc. and whose party they attended if it wasn't there own. I put what date the party was on and when it is due with all the relevant party number. Some customers have multiple cards by now but it works and it is compact and all there in front of me when the phone rings and I can refer back to the big folder for a copy of the paperwork if needed.

Thanks for sharing your ideas. The index cards i am assuming can be bought from any stationary store?
Ladywytch replied:
Yes they do and usually come with the box too.
They come in about 3 different sizes and all colours so anyone with more that one business can colour code.
They aren't expensive, are neat and so handy.

I will be off to my local copyfax or office works on Monday. Thanks for being a great help.

Wish I could claim it as my idea. My darling partner was a customs broker and had hundreds of customers that just expected him to know every little detail of both their business and personal lives so he took to using these and by the Gods it works - I have just adapted, adopted but not improved on his methods.
Happy to be of help.

There are some excellent tips and tricks you can use in the forum named the same. I wont repeat them here as it would just take too long. Anyway I hope that you find some in there that help!
