My girls were pestering me non-stop yesterday afternoon about opening a christmas cracker. So, of course i eventually gave in so they would be quiet for 5 minutes. I swear the jokes they have in them are getting worse every year.
Q: How did the skunk call his mother?
A: On his smellular phone!
They are worse than some of the jokes kids make up themselves.

Bon Bons/Crackers are pretty crappy these days. My girls love them but this year we have decided to make our own. We brought kits for 50% off after last christmas from Overflow and we are adding christmas balloons and a whistle to them so they are a little more exciting. The girls are looking forward to making them and plan on giving friends them as a little chrissy present along with there cards.

I agree...the christmas crackers are very sad these days. not only are the jokes read bad...so are the hats (one size fits no-one) and the toys if you get any are simply junk! I also feel that they charge too much for them considering what you get...
This year rather then making my own crackers...I brought some pretty TINY crackers about the size of a packet of life savers (just for the sake of having crackers on the table) for about $2 a packet...they are quite pretty! To add more excitement at the table....I brought everyone a table pressie, kept it about $10 and under and wrapped them to match the table setting!
Next year Im looking to make my own crackers...fill them with little shower gels..lollies etc etc. Anyway...thats the plan anyway!
Cheers!

Tanya - where do you buy the tiny crackers from? My 3 yr old loves anything and everything that is a tiny version of big things.

I got them from Crazy Clarks.... I saw even smaller ones in a cheapy discount store, just big enough for a sticker, joke and hat and once again for only $2-$3!
Keep an eye out in the discount stores as you can get some fantastic buys! I came across them when I was buying some baubles for the kids christmas tree.
Cheers!
