Discussions : Off your chest... : COMMISSIONS

This topic has reared its ugly head, over and over. I for one, get sick of hearing about this company this, that company that. Commission is a small part of the big picture.
Sure they can vary between 20% - 50%. But there are other things like hostess benefit costs, stationery costs, etc etc. I did a study between a few recently and both companies with different commission structures worked out the same in the end, when costs where taken into account. You must also consider the product involed, its selling rate, and the price of this product, as that will affect the average party sales. What sells HOT HOT HOT here in QLD may not necessarily be the gun product in VIC for example.
Anybody, doing party plan, is an adult and is able to work out their commissions for themselves. Personal purchases are also an added saving and benefit.
So NO - NO shame on the PP companies that pay 20%.
We are one of them, and in saying that, our girls are also (relatively - cause I don't want to blow my own horn and they can speak for themselves) are well looked after. We provide the hostess benefits, we pack and deliver the orders (no delivery for consultants), we provide majority of paperwork, I can be known for my genorosity, including throwing the extra product to those consultants excelling etc!!! So its not all about the mighty bottom commision dollar.

Well said !
Commissions are but a part of the overall business.
There are many other considerations as you mention.
However I have scratched my head while helping someone else with a huge order to pack, paperwork, phone calls, petrol, brochures, and bags for a 15% commission.

Well said!!! Commission % is only a small part of the big picture.
Good on you [ExMember148] for looking after your girls. I am sure your business is a fantastic business to be associated with.
Mandy replied:
That is a very good point [ExMember148]. A lot of people only look to the comission.

I agree, Product commission is as different for each company as their product and they do work out the same. More importantly, recruiting commission, IS important, as this creates a long term passive income as should be closely looked at if you are considering PP for the long term.

I know when I am looking for a job, which party plan is, there are more important things to consider than the wage. I find it quite distasteful that so many people in this industry are so wage obsessed... and that is what our commission is our WAGE.
I don't go round discussing the wage I earn from my other job, but everyone wants to know what I earn in this one.

With the cost of living and mortgage rises..of course what we are earning (commission or otherwise ) is of great significance. I think that you are being naive to suggest that what you earn as a wage has no real bearing on your job. If it is not significant why didnt the former PM get voted back in...and workers could continue on their 'lowly' wage....under so called 'work choices'...what a joke.
I for one am a qualified nurse....l entered the profession because l loved it...but as a nurse regardless of what society thinks we are grossly underpaid for what we do and for the amount of study that is incorporated in earning degrees... We only earn a decent wage working late shifts, night duty and weekends...not much of a life, l can tell you.
Well all l can say is thank God l found PP.,...and thank goodness l joined a great company that has not only great commissions, but also great bonuses, etc...after being under paid for so long in my nursing/midwifery career...l can now stand up and applaud the company l have joined...and l am not ashamed of saying that to me commission rates do matter...as with out it...it would be difficult to put food on the table and give my daughter the life she deserves on a lowly nurses wage.
Wages are a big part of the big picture...after all..no one on this site would work for nothing.!!!

This is being taken out of proportion, my main point was that the figures that are being thrown around are getting silly.
Whether you earn 20 or 50 - they are basically all the same in the long run - taken all considerations into account.
My point is - I don't think it is right when people get on here and say oh I earn 50 % and so and so only earns 20% ! And try and bring other companies down because there commission may only be 20%. (Yes, it does happen, there are posts here about it!)
CKCath replied:
The figures are a consideration BUT there is more to Party plan than commission.
We all joined our particular plan for various reasons. Maybe we joined (as I did) to use it as an excuse to do more scrapbooking, maybe we joined as we love the clothes that our company sells. Maybe we joined because we can only wear a particular brand of make up. Whatever the reason it was the best one for each off us.
I would hope that there is no one out there who has looked at a company because they love the product but decided that there was not enough commission in it and joined another company JUST for higher commission.
Money makes the world go round, but does it make it a better place to be in?
My point earlier with "regular" work and wage levels was that sometimes we are prepared to earn a little less to do something we love. Sometimes this does mean we should be better paid, but does it make the job any less enjoyable or important?

Maybe some of us just like the buzzzzzzzzzzzz we get from it............ (sorry couldn't resist it!)
scrappy replied:
LOL Your PP really does create a pleasant Buzzzzzzz!!!!
But yes I joined my PP before I even knew the % of anything!!
Its really great that we all get a different % of our PP sales as it would be really unfair if we all got the same, as all the products are different and sell differenly. You are very right [ExMember148] as it all works out in the wash so to speak!!
