People are funny.............
Went to my friend house last night for a pamper night with a pp girl.(not from this site)....
Had our feet done first...the consultant was 38 wks pregnant and rubbing, scrubbing, and applying creams to our feet...felt great during and after....
Then she proceeded to do facials on us...great..make up removed and face done for the night.......great job....only thing was she did all that over 3 hours being  pregnant for a total of less than 25% commission and on sales for the night worked out to be just $25.00 for 3 hours work............

Weird l thought why some people would do that but of course each to there own.......and this jis JMO ....
My query l guess is - why do consultants do that..is it because they love the product (really she wasnt that passionate about the product), they dont really need the money, they just want to get out of the house......or is it because they do not see the big picture????
I have opened this topic up for discussion......l am not having a go at her...l commend her...but thought maybe we could get some interesting discussion going on the board.............
(added in retrospect due to some responses)

You never know how bad - or good- the night will be unless you turn up.  If she arrived and saw that it was going to be a waste of her time (for lack of better wording), then what would you, as the customer, thought of her leaving?  Would you have told everyone how great she was, or how awful?

CKCath replied:

Maybe she really does love her product and her job... but at 38 weeks pregnant maybe she was just having a bad day.

I applaud her for getting down  on her hands and knees to massage total strangers feet while that heavily pregnant. In my mind she must really love what she does or she woudl have stopped booking parties by now to rest up before Bub arrives. Not everyone does their party plan ONLY for the money.

Thanks Safe_ingriedents for your response...

l have been misunderstood here..l was not having a go at her..at all ..God l am a mother and a midwife and l commend her for what she is doing...my point is when l see her doing that for less than 25% commission...it would be good if she was getting more and shame on her pp for paying those sort of rates...JMO

biancaj replied:

Does she know what other PP's are out there?  Did you guys mention FAC to her?

I know for me, when I joined my first PP, I looked into three different ones and the rates were pretty much the same, for similar products.  Now I am with another company, I know I can get alot more commission (such as FAC), however I love the range I sell and for the time being, am not tempted to jump ship. iykwim.

Hi guys and gals,

I looked into various different PP's before joining my current PP and most offer between 20% to 30% commission, so I think that 25% is the average commission rate - JMO.  I know I could get more commission with a few other companies, however, I really love the products I sell and have used them for years.

I do pamper parties as well, however, I only pamper the hostess, not all the guests.  The guests can certainly try the products, and I pass the products around as I am demonstrating the products on the hostess.  I also only do one theme per party, for example, a facial or make up etc - otherwise, I would be there for hours!!

So I guess there are a number of reasons why people choose different PP's.  I chose my PP because I LOVE the products and the cost associated with running  my business are low and the commission structure of my PP is very rewarding.

I'm glad we are all different and choose different PP's otherwise none of us would make any money and can you imagine how boring the PP industry would be!!

Cheers!!
