Preventing Cancellations
It is what all consultants hate to hear ~ they have a date scheduled
for a show, then the hostess decides she wants to cancel or postpone her party. Of
course, there are legitimate reasons for cancelling - a child is sick,
or an unexpected business event has come up. But the majority are of
the "I don't have enough guests" variety. Here are some tips of what to
say or do to prevent or stave off potential cancellations
Is she worried that she is going to have too few guests?
Particularly if the show is only a few days away (and it is unlikely
you could get another booking at that late date) tell her that a small
number of people simply means you can spend more time with the guests
who are in attendance. And remind her of her list of possible invitees
in case she has overlooked someone - the majority of hosts forget
someone who would truly be interested in the products. Remember, one of
those guests could be the gem of a recruit you have been waiting for.
Encourage her to do some catalogue sales as well, so she can boost
the money spent at her show, and enable her to get even more free
products.
If she has kids, remind her that she already has a babysitter all lined up, and it is likely that some of her guests do to.
Does it sound like a cancellation is coming? Be sure to convey your
enthusiasm to your hostess over the phone (or in person). Let her know
that the show will be so much fun, and that you can't wait for the date
to arrive. Enthusiasm and excitement is contagious, and even if she was
thinking about cancelling, your excitement will remind her of how much
fun it will be to have the show, and having the opportunity to chat and
catch up with friends. Tell her to think of it as a ladies night out
Good luck...
