Discussions : General discussion : How to cope with a play group booking with kids?

Hi everyone!
I was lucky enough to get booking out of my first party last week... yay! However the hostess would like to have a day time party at her play group. Which is fine, I can cope with kids and as a Mum of an 18month old have learnt to multi task very quickly. My only issue is that it is a Nutrimetics Spa, which is all about relaxation. Not so easy to lie back and meditate with soothing eye pads covering your eyes whilst 6 toddlers run a muck! I did explain to her that I would most certainly modify the party so it suits the situation with kids around but so far all i can come up with is to split the guests into 2 groups and do two short relaxations rather than one longer one with all the guests at the same time (that way a couple of the mums can watch the kiddies and then swap over). Does anyone have any suggestions of how to incorporate toddlers into the party? If so I'd love to hear from you :-) It crossed my mind that perhaps I should talk her into some "time out" without the kids as that is part of the new nutrimetics "theme" so to speak but then i realised that there is a potential market out there for Mum's such as herself that still enjoy the product but need to fit it into their hectic schedule, especially single Mums or those whose partners work late. Has anyone had an issue like this before, how did it go? I look forward to any replies, thanks peoples

hi hun,
i must admit your nutrimetics spa is foreign to me as i have never attended one but i presume that being it entails relaxation there would be some sort of massage oils and the like - so maybe you could combine mum and baby in massage relaxation at the end of your party after the split up groups to bring the party together for the finale so everyone experiences the party environment together as a complete group. i do hope i have helped you in some way, cheers, debbie-ann

Oohhhh..........my....l have done one play group FAC jewellery show...and must say never again.......children every where, touching, moving things...sticky hands...just generally being children...BUT the mums couldnt relax or even look at the jewellery because they were busy chasing after the little one's, etc...
My advice.....try to convince the hostess to have some time out with her friends..maybe at her home in the evening..so she can have her turn to be pampered...too many distractions with the children everywhere...You want her to remember her nutrimetrics spa as a pleasant experience........Good Luck...

Is the playgroup at someones house? If so, perhaps they could take turns in watching each others children, while the mums go into the 'relax room' and you can have 1 on 1 time with the mums in there who want to have a go?
Just a suggestion.... sorry ive never worked with any pp beauty related before, so dont really have any idea, but if it were me as the host, thats what i would like :)

How old are the children at the play group? Are they babies, toddlers or 3-4 year olds?
You might like to suggest to have someone reading a story (depending on the age of the children), and take the mums into another room. Most play groups have a separate room, either for toys or the kitchen, and completely separate the mums being pampered. I like the idea of two sessions as it could definately work, just make sure you are not in the same room as the children. Depending on how many ladies there are, and I'm not sure how long the nutrimetics spa is supposed to go for, but maybe you could do two or three ladies in 10-15 minute sessions. That way they wont be away from their bundles for too long, and you will have more one-on-one time with them.
I have done several play groups and haven't found them a problem. (And that is with TOYS!!) Keep your products out of reach, don't do too much of a speal, as their time is limited anyway, so keep it brief then take them away for a bit of pamper.
When you do your host coaching ask her to explain to everyone else what you have planned, then they will be ready for when you get there.
Good Luck!!!! and let us know how you go.

Just wnat to tell you its doable I did a Nutrimetics relaxation experience with lotsa kids around and NO CD PLAYER (the hostess wasnt the best one I have had-invited people 15 minutes before I turned up in spite of hostess coaching where she said "yes i have invited people", expected a facial and got narky at me when i said that wasnt what happens then said "oh no CD player sorry")
If you have some of the christmas preview toys tell the kids that the toys (or any toys in general) need to be put to sleep on a blanket and they need to pat them to sleep. lol.
Good luck!
