Ok when I joined Nutrimetics I rang the centrelink phone line to find out what to do and the person on the other end said if i dont make a profit then I dont have to tell them....................and because my expenditures have outweighed my income at the present time I did just that as I am yet to make a profit. it was just a hobby.
Anyway, I got a letter today saying to call for an interview. Apparently someone has rang them saying I have made huge big profits with Nutrimetics and am not declaring it. But I was just going by what one person in the phone line said to me (the lady whom i spoke to today told me that you get told a lot of different things depending on who you talk to)...............................
So now I am confused because things I have been told by centrelink themselves have been contradicted and now I am scared. I know I havent made a profit but anyway, someone close to me has informed centrelink that I am making HUGE profits which isnt true!!!! It has to be someone close to me because no one else knows those kinds of details about me.
Oh well at least I know now what to do.
1. Declare everything
2. Dont trust call centres

Hi Clarebear,
After my experiences with that lot, I recommend getting everything in writing - not over the phone. You can ring 4 differnet people and get 4 different answers. When you talk to them, ask them to send you a letter giving the details - at least then you have some backup if needed.
A while ago I was told that I would need to put in a profit and loss statement every 3 months. Now, how one is supposed to estimate that when the business is brand new, is beyond me. I haven't done that, but I haven't started my business yet either (too much life getting in the way at present, so I'm staying as a hobbyist for now).
You are allowed to earn $XX each fortnight before losing anything, and that amount would be different for each person depending on their circumstances. You take all your expences out of your earnings, and what's left is classed as the income.
But as I said - when you go to your appointment - get her\him to print it out for you (on letterhead paper so you show it's legit). Am I sceptical (cynical) of them - you bet I am!!! LOL. And wouldn't you love to know who was lousy enough to dob you in!!! People should have details and proof before accusing. Good luck with it.

I should have wisened up to centrelink when we got the run around regarding DH's studies..........but me being naive thought the person over the phone knew what they were saying. Well I know thats not the case anymore.
The lady said i dont have to have an interview. I just have to take in a Profit and Loss statement to her for the last 3 months and she will handle it. She was so nice to me and admitted that people over the phones just have no idea.
I just want to make everyone else aware that centrelink phone people dont always have the correct info so that they dont get "caught out"
(I am also in tears that someone reported me saying i earn "really high commission"-the lady actually said that was on the statement-when they have no idea of my expenditure and the money i have invested into making this business work. i am still not breaking even and dont think i will until i reach manager at this rate)

I have had the same trouble as you ladies. Everytime you ring you get given different information, you do the right thing as to what you have been told to do and it ends up being wrong, or they give you the wrong forms to fill in.
When I have to ring them, I write the following details down:
Date,Time,Name,Reason for call,Receipt Number
If anything goes wrong, I have these details at hand to fall back on, and if I don't get any satisfaction, I don't let them get on top of me and I DO take it further, we are just as human being as they are and if it wasn't for people who rely on payment, where would they be, Unemployed.

Dry your tears Clarebear,
The fact someone reported you for earning so much in your business
should be worn as a badge of honour. The more people that see this
perceived success, the more people will be flocking to join you.
Real friends that think you are doing so well would be delighted for you
and asking to join as well. Those that are trying to bring you down aren't
worth your effort. Far better for others to think you are earning heaps than
the negative "these businesse don't work" attitude.
Be proud - every successful person cops this stuff.
Congratulations - your first sign of success !!
