Discussions : General discussion : gathering thoughts........

Hi I am just putting this out to get the thoughts of people "outside" of my business and family.
Are your Photos important to you?
Are you a happy snapper? or
snap at being photographed?

I am only after peoples general thoughts, and do people give it much priority?

Great Topic!!!  I love my photos!!!!  My house is covered in photo frames!!!!! So yes my photos and memories are very important to me.  I love taking photos of my kids, but always seem to forget the camera but don't really like being in photos myself, thats just a self image thing for me.

I love my photos and take dozens and dozens, but can never afford to print them.  In fact I'm scared of losing some as my CD thingy on my computer isn't working by the looks of it to burn them to a CD for protection but I try to scrap as many as I can to preserve them

Looks like you're going to find quite a few who love their pics!! I'm a scrap addict from way back!! I have DOZENS of albums full of photos (in the past, hubby has managed to stay out of a LOT of pics - seeing as he's usually behind the camera as he does photography professionally too... but now I have a camera of my own... he's finding he's in quite a few now! hehehe)... and the house is covered in frames too!!!

I have several projects on the go... I'm trying to create a "family tree" style album, so we can remember & honour our ancestors! (Also gathering heaps of info on our ancestors in a family tree database I have too... this is another interest for me)... and of course there's the wedding & honeymoon waiting to be scrapped... oh... and Jamie's Germany trip!! eeeekkkk the list is growing!

Also... think Michelle may soon be turning me into a "Stampin'Up" addict!! hehehehe

I'm one of the more hopeless ones I'm afraid - I do have a camera - but often forget to take it (even left it behind on our New Zealand trip this year!) If hubby doesnt take photos then no-one does. We do print them off on the printer occassionally.  We have boxes of photos - but not organised at all.

We did just have some professional shots done recently for family presents.  Not sure if this helps???

I love taking photos. Digital cameras are fantastic, you can now see the pic as soon as you take it. No more taking your film to be processed only to find when you pick them up that some are blurred, people not looking and so on. I have baby rabbits at the moment and I love taking photos of them and my dogs. As for myself I dislike being in photos and will do anything to get out of it. So I guess what I’m saying is photos are great as long as I’m not in them. I love putting albums together I have heaps I start a new one with each stage in my life. But I have never done a scrap book style album as I know once I start I’ll never stop.

Have a great day

I used to be a snap happy person with a tonne and a ½ of photos until we had a house fire and lost the lot.  I stressed and stressed  about 'losing' all my memories.  Then I woke up one day and realised that the past is the past and I still play back all those happy snaps in my mind - at least we had no fatalities that day and I had all of my family safe.  I lost the photo bug after that but we have a style of 'remembering' that is like the old Celtic bards and the American Indians.  We do it through stories and talking.  I guess we talk more than most families and love to spend hours just remembering and sharing our memories of ... whatever.  Photos are wonderful to have but for me the family lived through that fire and that far outways any attachment I had to the photos or to anything material.

To those of you that scrapbook - you have my sincere and utmost respect - I do not have the patience to sit for hours and do anything of the sort.  Congratulations to those that can.

Now we get a family photo at Christmas, school photos and sometimes a camera comes out at birthdays and graduations if we remember.

I am a photo holic and have been for many years. My house is covered in photos and I have scrapbooked 17 albums plus I have boxes of photos still to do. Photos are very important to me and I love to scrapbook them and frame them. My hubby has caught onto my love of photos too and he now takes heaps for me at any event he goes to. I have even been a consultant for a few scrapbooking companies but found I couldnt just stick with one companies products as I love them all!! yep, I am a scrapbooking and photo addict!!

I love my photos too, and the stories that go with them. I have quite a lot from way back in my family, as well as my own, the kids etc. That's why I so love scrapbooking - I can't understand why ebveryone doesn't do it so their photos and memories are preserved. ROFL. I wish it had been around when my kids were growing up.

I'm in the process now of scanning all my photos so they can be put on discs. It was recommended to me that I keep all negatives and CD's in a different place to the photos and albums. That is - out in the garage or at someone elses house. That way if there is a fire here - I can reprint my pics. I'm going to burn duplicate discs for each of my kids so there are a few copies floating around.

As you can see, I'm with a company, but we can use other comapnies products - they don't have those aweful restrictions like some others do (otherwise I wouldn't be in it either LOL).

Wow....what a huge response!!
Its nice to know that I am not the only "mad" one out there!! Also, another tip that Hubby actually taught me about......
Burn all photos to DVD not just CD as with technology upgrades, CDs get left behind, and only have a life of around 2 years!! I met some ladies recently that had actually lost images from their disc after this time!!!
So be safe, Burn to DVD!!!

Also I would love to know what companies have restrictions on the products that you can use!! LOL, what a JOKE.......
 sorry thats Awful!!!
No one has the right to tell me what I can use, Its my personal choice!!!!(and Im really mean....GRRR...)

SEE!!!!....LOL!!!
