Back in my tupperware days I did Auction Parties all the time. Its very similar to a normal party, yet it gets the guests involved in the event as they desperately want to get alot of auction money to bid on the items. You wrap up 3 items, these are the prizes.  You put them right in front of the guests.  You let them know their combined value, and hint as to what they are.  I also use to put a chocolate in one and say that one also contains a sweet suprise. All through the party you say things like, for $5 auction dollars who knows the price of this or that.. For $5 who can think of why this is a good product, At the end while people are doing their orders you pass the items around and so they could feel the items.  Anyone who can guess one of the items I'll give another $10.  but I wouldnt tell them what item they got right of the 3.  If things were a bit dead I would have one of the items on my table display and tell them that one of the items is in the display.  This got them looking again at what it could be.  THEN once all the ordering was done, there is a extra $5 for every item they ordered.  Usually they all had say, $200 to $500 dollars.  better than having $20 to $50  trust me I did both, the high dollars makes them excited. At the end there was the auction.  If you have more than say 6 people I would bring out another auction prize.  Sometimes I would wrap 2 items in a package and hint that people could share their money and split the prize.  Its amazing how this really got people excited and would want to book a party like it for themselves because they had so much fun. Everyone who missed out got those small tupperware gifts that they are so famous for having.
