HI all

I have just found this site and am looking forward to really reading lots of threads before posting more.  I am a new Tupperware demonstrator in Brisbane (about 6-7 weeks) and had a VERY slow start as i had very little support from friends (and have no family here). I was about to give up when I had the last party in my diary yesterday and it was awesome (over $1700 and still waiting on 1-2 outside orders), so I am re-enthused and going to try to make a go of it - need lots of ideas on dating parties though!!

I am an American living in Australia (almost 9 years) with 2 girls (4 and 2 1/2 years old)- only relocated to Brisbane in January so don't know a ton of people either which is part of the reason for my slow start LOL.

looking forward to chatting with you all and brainstorming some ideas!

Deb

Hi Deb. Welcome to party plans. Im only new to this site too and Im newish to my party plan 'Crafty Kids' or the new name Kaszazz. Im in Melbourne and I have a similiar situation to you. I have no family here and only small amount of friends. I was very enthusiastic about my party plan and thought everyone else would be too but I had trouble getting people to my partys so I was also about to give up and call it quits. But Im holding another party this wednesday nite and having another crack.

So from another member welcome and congratulations on your new success and hopefully we can talk more about our successes in our party plans!! Charmaine

Hi Deb,

Welcome to PPA.  Dont be discouraged by a slow start.  I'm with viva-aroma and i have had a slow start but that hasnt detered me from doing anything i can to get bookings in my diary.  I am looking into some ideas at the moment to get myself back on track and save up for my holiday at the end of next year and becoming team manager next year.  SO i hve a couple of goals to work towards.

Thanks for the welcome. It is amazing how things can change in one night - i was so low and was doubting myself and my manager kept telling me you cannot take it personally and it is not a reflection on how good i am etc.  I am hoping to repeat the experience again now that i have moved from the original parties i booked to get started (with not so enthusiastic participants) -

would love to come to a coffee mornign if possible - where do you discuss those kinds of things - in the events section???

Hennypenny replied:

Hi Deb,

Yes it amazing what a difference a single party/experience can make. High sales and positive response is truly motivating, but a dud party can really put you in the doldrums.

The trick is to accept it as part and parcel of the business we are in. Everyone in any profession sometimes has a "bad day at the office". Don't let it get you down.

You know there is a market out there for what you are selling, it is just a matter of finding the "right" customer at the "right" time- for you and them.

It can also be dis-heartening when someone you expected support from, lets you down. Eg a close friend or relative.

Once again, maybe it just wasn't the right time for them (and hopefully they at least feel bad hehe).

But, it is great when you get a really positive response from somewhere you DIDN'T expect. That is a real boost.

Stick with it and you will soon come to take the good with the bad.

Ps I am in Brissie too.

Cheers, Andrea.
