I currently have 2 jobs. One as a sales assistant and the other a waitress / bar maid at the local club. I love both my jobs and enjoy going to them.( and Voodoo Jewellery )
Until now, with one of them. I asked the club to have today off, the 13th and it was the biggest hassle. I had asked several weeks ago and its not like i just dropped it on them. I explained the reason being. Its my grandfathers 2nd anniversary since he died and id like to be at home with my family doing the things my Pop loved. I was told that i couldnt as noone else wanted to work.
I have never asked for a day off there since i have started over 3 months ago. I have worked every Friday and Saturday nights and filled in where i can for them but i cant understand why it seemed to be a problem. All the other staff members can get nights off to drink ????
I asked for the last time last night and was told that " i might as well cause i would chuck a sicky anyway" - their words. For the rest of the night i was hassled by other staff members about my reasons etc. I dont understand what the problem is??
Well i feel better now that i have said all that. Sorry just had to have a winge

I'm with you there! Prove them wrong on just how valuable your time is! Promote your business,
get yourself out there and book up every Friday and Saturday solid so you can earn heaps more money in less time, and then go back to the club for a celebratory drink to
'Take this J.O.B and shove it' song
you can do it!

I am gob smacked at this post. I am so sorry your place of employment treated you in this way. You don't deserve it. Where is their heart and soul. You could have given them any reason to have the day off or indeed you could have pulled a sicky but you did the right thing and tried to give them notice and allow them time to accomodate your absense. How uncaring. I am such a great believer in Karma and believe me what goes around comes around. It may take time but eventually it does.
I agree with Marina and Lily work really hard on promoting your Jewellery business and one day you will be able to quit and move on to a life of so much more freedom to take time out for those special times that are important to us. Always follow your heart.
All the very best
