I too hate it when invitated guest either do not reply or reply with a yes and then do a now show.
I once cancelled a party I was having due to only 4 out of 20 replied and they were all nos. My sister in laws did not even reply until the day of and wondered why I had cancelled 4 days out. I did not want to waste the consutlants time as what I wanted to order did not quaiIfy for party gifts. decided that those who had not replied were not coming as it is just old fashioned manners to reply with a yes or a no. On the night I had 2 ladies show up but fully understood as they had not replied. Luckily I did councel as neither wanted to order anything they jsut came for the chat. Now everyone who I know that I invite to parties know to reply - even my sister in laws. I also only invite those who I know are interested in the parties products and this seems to work better.

Like I tell my hostesses people coming to parties or not will all depend upon how they are invited.
