Discussions : Boost your bookings : Starting out

I am not sure if this should be in general discussion but...
I am quite new to the PP business, and I have asked about follow up phone calls (thanks again for the script Kelly!) but I have a few more questions...
Is it ok to send out Christmas Cards to previous clients? (As my client base isn't too large it won't be very costly). Would people be put off by this, or think Hey, she cares?
We have a standard Thank You letter we send to the hosts, but if a party is exceptionally good (or even bad I guess!), should I put it in a card with a proper thank you note, instead of the standard blurb?
Do you offer gifts - such as half price items, % off etc to gain more parties?
Thanks for your help!

This can be a touchy one...
If you choose to do this you need to be sure that you wont be offending people - they may not celebrate Christmas for whatever reason (religion etc). So be careful.
As it is a Christmas card I would not put anything business related in it. You want them to feel that you care not that you are just interested in them helping your business.
A simple message such as what follows is one example of what I would do: "Dear Mary, I am so glad that I met you this year, I really enjoyed doing your party! I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and happy and prosperous new year. I look forward to catching up with you again soon. Best wishes for the holiday season. " Sign your name and under it write 'your xyz consultant'
I have done this in the past but as my clients base is fairly large I only sent them to the hostesses I had through out the year and every single one of them sent me a card in return plus booked into the new year! Some even called me to say thank you in person for thinking of them.
Hope this helps.

Hi there
i just thought i would share with you what I do,, after every party I do no matter how it went i will send the hostess a thank you letter and recomfirm the payment date and tell them when their products will be approx delivered. And with this letter I include a gift voucher that I make on my computer which basically say they get 10% off their order next time they book a party with me.
And as for xmas cards I have been thinking about this lately too, and since i have only been doing party plan for a month or 2 i only have a small customer base. like the previous post said i can be a bit touchy so maybe instead of xmas cards i have been thinking maybe just an end of the year card and thank them for being a great customer etc,
just an idea for you to consider

With my ol' Avon biz... I use to stock up on the small hand creams (or whatever else I felt appropriate at the time) and I'd make "Happy Holidays" cards (rather than "Merry Christmas" - I'd refer to everything as the "holiday season" etc - regardless of the religion of my customer, they'd all be part of the "holiday" spirit... if you know what I mean?)
I'd also enclose a "double" voucher for "$xx off your next order in Dec" and "Start the New Year with a New You" kind of promo - that way I could encourage the sales to go into the New Year, as well as over the Christmas period...
Hope that helps you??

Hi Everyone,
I have only been doing party plan for the last month or two and what excellent ideas. I think sending customers cards for the holidays is great. I myself as a customer would think that receiving something like this that the consultant really does thank you for their custom and I would definately be purchasing or having another party.
Thanks everyone for your great ideas. I love this website.
