TWO PARTIES AT ONCE

Discussions : General discussion : TWO PARTIES AT ONCE

Hi everyone,

Just wanted some advice as I had a strange phone call today.

I phoned the hostess of a party I have booked for next week just to confirm as she had posponed the last party due to illness. Anyway, everything is looking good this time but she informed me that there will be another party happening at the same time. That's ok, I thought until she told me that the other party is also a kid's clothing party!! I was shocked and speechless and didn't know what to say. I still can't understand why she would have two parties on at the same time that are in direct competition with each other!

Just thought someone may have some advice for me or be able to think of a reason for her doing this?? I am baffled!

ewww tag along parties never work for one or the either party plan involved.  People only have a limited attention span and really don't want to be sitting for hours being lectured at.  Also, our customers only have a certain amount of $$$ to spend!!  Now with the other party plan to be the same type of industy - eek, sticky, just be honest and up front and explain that this is not a good idea for her friends to be put in this situation and also not part of head office policy if you have to blame someone!!

Belinda,
2 parties at once...waste of your time...as [ExMember148] said...customers have limited - time, attention and money to be spending on both and one or both of you will loose out,...
This was offered to me once....l learnt my lesson,,,never again...l did get a booking but the hostess thought she would do the same as the previous hostess and book both..but l said really l would prefer if we could do it on separate days....and the hostess was happy to do it that way....it turned out to be a very successful party for me plus 2 bookings..l know that wouldnt have been the case if 2 pp at been scheduled there the same day and time...

You are your own boss and need to be assertive in how you run your business...
Hope it all works out for you...good luck..
cheers...Kathy

everyone has had lots of great things to say about this  - i would like to add is if you go ahead with the 2 parties - then let the other one go first - suggest strongly that she has only 20 minutes - and you do this as well with maybe a 5 minute loo/smoke/drink break.(keeping food until later though)

Most people only have an attention span of 20 minutes - the break will fix that plus it is what you see last you remember more of. So have both of you have the ordering at the end and set up your office a little away from her but not to far so that you can keep an eye on the products not getting mixed up and when u do demonstrate - show items that the other company does not have. focus on exclusive items and special offers you have.

Let the host know this is what is happening and take control of the day as if you don't it will turn out no good. last but not lest tell the host that if she likes childrens clothing that much she should join you. maybe she is wanting to look at both companies - be professional and well mannered and the best dressed- professional consultant there and the day will work - go in with a negative attutude and that is what you will get. If your gut is telling you that you should give it a go - there must be a reason for you to be there. I have done a few parties where i was with another partiy plan and this way i have had more success - even got a recruit out of one. don't write anything off completely.

ok thats my 2 no 10cents worth

Luv Irene
