Hi my name is Kylee and I am looking to become a party consultant.  I am currently on maternity leave with my 4month old daughter and also have a six year old son.  My husband is supportive of my plans to do this but is concerned it will take away time from the family on the weekends.  Did any of you have this concern with your partners and how do you maintain the balance of getting this family time on the weekend as well as running your business?

Congrat's on this site as well - heaps of useful information and forums for new comers to be world of Party Plans

Hi Kylee

You'll love the freedom party plan gives you. I'm with Saucy Fish Jewellery and we are encouraged to put our family first. I only work when it suits me and my family, and with our fantastic 35% comission rate I find I only need to do a couple of parties a week. Good Luck with whatever company you go with. If you want any info on Saucy Fish send me a pm and I'll get it to you. Welcome to the forum.

Hi Kylee and welcome aboard, you will get lots of info and help here!!

With the right party plan you can balance your family and your business!!!  And be successful too.  Get out your diary and highlight the days you can and can't work!!! Prioritise your family committments first!!

Hi Kylee, Welcome to the site.

I think you can let it take over family life so prioritising is very important. I do a mix of Parties, Internet Advertising with a group of others ONEGroup Reps and also do leaflet drops and leave advertising papers in a few locations so I tend to make it fit round family life.

Having said all that my boys are 13 and 15 so reasonably  self sufficient which helps.

I guess the best advice is prioritise your work and make sure you look after yourself too.

Have fun

Welcome Kylee,

I am sure you will love PartyPlans!! As for party plan you will find what works for you and your family as you start your business. the joy of party plan is you work around your family. I love the company I am with as I get to go into schools etc.. with the range and give them free felt. Story Felt offers so much more than just party plan. I now have 2 full days a week doing business stuff with the girls in daycare and school care. This suits us as a family and we still get weekends as a family if I do not have parties booked. I am still out there earning fantastic $$ but still have a family life.

Good luck with choosing the company to join as there are lots of fantastic companies out there to choose from. If you would like more info on Story Felt just pm.

Happy posting, reading and chatting.

Cheers

Janine

Hi Kylee,
Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll get all the help and info you need here!
As for your question, a lot of partners are afraid of this when you first start with Party Plan, and it's important to remind him that one of the reasons you'd like to do it is so that you can have MORE time with your family, not less.
I'm with [ExMember148] on this one, definately prioritise via your diary, highlight the times you are available to work and cross out the all important family time and any other commitments you may have.
Once you choose a party plan, your manager should be other to give you plenty of tips on making sure you don't book into your family time.
Good luck!

Hi there Kylee

And a HUGE cheery Welcome to this wonderful site. I hope you find what you're searching for. Thats great if your hubby is supportive of your idea to join a Party Plan. Reassure him that you will still be able to have plenty of family time. You will just need to get a diary and on the days you wish to stay with your family have them crossed out so you arent able to book for those days. You can pretty much run things to suit your familys needs.

I personally left full time work to have my son last year in September and had full intentions of going back to work in March this year. But when i found i couldnt go back part time. I knew i had to find something else as there was no way i was going to leave my son when i felt he needed me. Party plan is such a great option for stay at home mums. Good Luck in your search.

Hi Kylee,

The reason a lot of people do party plan is to have MORE time with their family!! Reassure him that you won't be away from the family too much, and when you are working you will only be away for a couple of hours at a time. It's the perfect choice of career for someone in your situation. Why don't you send him on to this site to have a look and he will see what it's all about. Good luck with your decision and let us know if you have any other questions!! Look forward to seeing you around the boards!!

Hi Kylee.

Welcome to the site!

I have to agree with the other ladies here who say PP gives you MORE time with family!

I have a two and a half year old and a 11 month old AND expecting number three soon and doing PP is great!

I take my kids in the pram with me when I do drop offs and when hubby is home, I leave the kids with him for 2 hours to do a party - which is only 2 times a week!!

All the ordering is done over the phone or internet so it's so convenient when you have little ones!

PP is great for stay at home mums and when your bub gets older, you can get more serious about the business.

I think that most of the stay at home mums try out PP -not just for the money but to keep yourself SANE!
