This is according to Jan Ruhe - author of 'Let's Party' :
'Spend one Day a Week Scheduling Parties
Take one day every week doing nothing but calling prospects who would like to have a party with you. It takes dedication and focus, but one you have it going, it's like a train that has left the station.'
now may be the time to start thinking about it. let's help each other to boost our bookings.
share your system below .....

I just use the good old filing cards system. Would love to put in on computer, but find I get distracted on the comeputer and end up on here, lol! So this works well for me. It takes time to update, and you need to put aside time to develop it but once up and running - its great. Also, its an advantage that when ringing these customers you can write little notes down to remember next time. I also record what products were purchased and whos party they attended. Its all good for conversation. I also record what I've sent them and when.etc. The leades I pick up that aren't from parties are just put on a card ready to ring.
Thats what I do anyway......who next?
Ps And of course I use a diary as well.

I had started an excel file - with headings such as: Name, address, phone, email, where i found them, have i sent them a catalogue, have they held a party, have they placed an order, if so what, and then typed the details in as needed, however found i rarely remembered to update it. So instead, i purchased a filing card box, cards, and am hoping to start doing this and arranging alphabetically by first name i guess - as you don't always happen to know their last name and that would get confusing if you had some by first and some by last name....
In a previous job, not party plan, we used to do similar to jenlerose - write their contact details on one side of the card, and on the back any important information including if they get a discount, or what they have ordered, or anything special that we wanted to make note of. I am thinking of doing this - and thanks for the tips on things jenlerose as my filing cards have sat there for 2 weeks as i've been putting off setting it up - but as you say, i'm sure once its up and running in a system i'll get used to it.
I also have a folder where i put email enquiries, etc - so if someone emails (or PM's) me requesting a catalogue, etc - i print it off and put it in a simple folder, and write notes on the page inc. what date i sent them a catalogue, if they held a fundraiser, etc etc.... perhaps i will stop doing this and just use the cards though, as otherwise i may overlook some customers.
hmm. i'm interested to see everyone elses suggestions - as i need help becoming a lot more organised!! Running 3 businesses requires me to be organised - and i'm not!!!
